Very cold so the chocolate/malty nose was minimal. Taste is sweet, rich, chocolately, caramely, with some nice malt backdrop. Got tastier but thinner as it warmed. Surprisingly I liked this quite a bit and will search out a few more bottles. rader58 (194), Leawood, Kansas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 I love schwarzbier and this is an excellent one at that. Pours a muddy red with a small tan head. Semisweet fruity, berry seed, aroma, lightly buttery, faint chocolate. Lightly sweet red berry seed flavor, softly tannic, super light chocolate and roast, touch of grass. Super smooth body with fine fizzy carbonation, lightly creamy. Nice beer.
