It had a rich malt flavor and strong hop presence and was balanced. The hops, however, strike me as merely bitter and hoppy...no complexity. The malt too, while present, lacks complexity. Towards the end of this brew, a mild but slightly unpleasant sourness emerges. I’d drink it again, but only if it were handed to me or I was somewhere where there were no better options available.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 22, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper body with a small thin off-white head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is sort of a generic fruity ale yeastiness with a touch of light hops. Toasty and biscuity malt below. The flavor is a little grainy with a soggy wet maltiness and minimal floral hops. Some yeastiness on the finish. Medium bodied with a little coarseness to it. Moderate fizzy carbonation. This used to be my go-to beer when I lived in Philly back around 1999-2000, but this has changed quite a bit since then, and not in a good way. BREWMUSKCLES (1087), New Jersey, USA
