dball1869 (16), nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 26, 2007 limited offering. had at saucer and @ beyond the edge. dark fruit, slightly roasty. one of the best they have made. illinismitty (1397), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 18, 2007 Draft at Flying Saucer. Pours muddy dark brown with a nice frothy beige head. Earthy flavors of dark fruit, mild roast, and brown sugar with a subtle bitterness to balance it out. Very interesting take on a Belgian Brown. I was with my wife so I did not take notes. But this was very good and..... this baby is local. arjoseph (515), Marshall, Wisconsin, USA Feb 5, 2007 On tap into pint, Flying Saucer (Nashville). It’s nice to finally get a Yazoo seasonal. This *is* a sight better than the normal offerings, but not 4.5 better. Opaque dark brown in the glass with a creamy tan head that lasts as a thick creamy dusting on top; lacing is oily and dense, sliding easily on the side without gaps. First impressions: roasty bitter and dry finish is salty on the sides and lip-smacking good; hard to tell (for me, at least) whether this is mostly roasted malt or some combo of roast and hops achieving it; whatever it is, it’s good. Middle is grainy like dark maize, reminds me of a darker maibock crossed with an oktoberfest in the way it tastes like autumn. Body is medium to full. It doesn’t remind me of Belgium at all (I don’t remember any Belgian beers tasting like this), but whatever; it’s good. mojoman (44), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 25, 2006 Updated: Jul 4, 2006THE best beer I’ve had from Yazoo. Had it on tap at Nashville’s Flying Saucer. Very strong alcohol content (I’m guessing 10 percent) Seems to capture the essence of a belgian dark ale. I probably need to sample more legit belgian dark ales before I can really compare. Fantastic roasted malt taste. BeerandBlues2 (2451), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 2, 2005 Pours deep brown with a light brown head. Aroma is brown sugar and malt with a hop nose and roasted caramel malts. Roasted malt flavor with a smoky hop finish. Medium-bodied and dry palate.
