Pours brown with little to no head. Subtle, barely there aroma of malt. Sweet malty flavor with a touch of grain, maybe some corn and yeast. A little watery for my taste. No bad, per se, just not great.

Draft. Very dark brown color. No head to speak of. Aroma is mildly malty. Some chocolately hints. Flavor is mostly roasted malts, with a little yeastiness. Not much carbonation. Thin and watery. As my glass warmed a little, I tasted something a bit different...perhaps even off. I cannot describe as to a particular taste, but something different. Overall, not a bad beer.

Bottle. Dark brown and amber colored body, even dark red hues in there. Malt taste, like a brown ale on first impression. Dusty malts, with cinnamon scents in the nose. Flavor is light toasted malts, brown sugar, light wood and some light nuts. Perhaps some maple and light chocolate malt flavors as well. Interesting, and if I had to make a guess I would put it at a brown ale, but it’s not exactly to style for brown ale. Perhaps it should be called a dark amber ale. Overall it’s OK, drinkable, and the only complaint really is a light vegetable scent I pick up at warmer temperatures.

Bottle. Pours a root beer brown color with not much head. Aromas are this, something sweet, some malt, but nothing pronounced. Flavors continue that trend, watery, dull, not much going on. I was anticipating some robust flavors given the unexpected deep color of this alt but it did not happen. Thanks to Secret Santa (July) for the bottle.

I agree with other reviewers in that this beer is slightly watered down. I almost would compare this to a bock (shiner?) A very servicable beer and it does seem to get better with every bottle that I’ve enjoyed.

via trade with Beer_Hawk - Pours a brown color with a faint off white head. Very light carbonation. Very light sweet malt aroma and flavor. Also has a very slight nutty flavor. No real hop presence. A thin but smooth beer. Not real exciting, but worth a try. Thanks Steve.

Overall I would say that this beer is like the homely- but- cool girl at everyone’s high school...pleasant to hang out with but nothing to get excited about. Poured from bottle into a snifter this beer was reddish-brown and developed a short-lasting tan head. The aroma started out with a decent dose of chocolate malts, and then gave way to more toastiness. Medium-bodied, with a long sweet finish.

Bottle poured a clear brown with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of toasted malt, nuts and a hint of cocoa. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, toasted malt, a hint of nuts and a bit of corn with a smooth sour/bitter finish.
