Commercial Description:
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

12 oz bottle courtesy of lithy. Pours an amber-brown color with a fine off-white head. The aroma shows roasted malts, molasses, dirt and cocoa. The flavor is overtly sweet with apples. pears, brown sugar and almonds. The finish is short and dry. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. Overall: My first Tennessee tick and not a bad one at all. Go Volunteers.

Picked up in Paris, TN. Pours a really dark chestnut brown. Aroma is of caramel, chocolate, and munich malts. Taste is chocolatey, biscuity, yet not over-bodied (I suspect the maize...which for once wasn’t overdone). Pretty easy drinking and tasty, though unexciting. The six pack won’t go to waste.

Bottle at Gaylord Opry Hotel. Pours dark chocolate brown in colour. Aroma and flavour nicely balanced, but strong with hops and roasted malt. Quite enjoyable.

A: Funky roasty aroma, slightly nutty and spicy A: Hazy deep amber body with the briefest appearance of foam that instantly collapses and dissolves to nothing F: Tart and nutty/faint roast quality and light sweetness. Finishes dry w/ a slight carbonic bite. O: The beer initially made me question if I received a tainted bottle given the funky spicy notes in the flavor and aroma. Curious flavor that keeps you on the fence but coming back to the glass for another taste.

I’m rating this pretty high because I can’t remember the last time i had an amber lager that i actually found passable. Super smooth! All the way through, this is so enjoyable- nutty, creamy and rich on the palate with a soft toastiness in the finish. Colour is a beautiful clear dark reddish brown. Medium sized head with decent amount of lacing and froth around the glass. Aroma is nice with soft caramel and almond notes on the nose. Thanks Blues!

Reviewed 1/29/2009 (bottled Week 2 July): Pours a somewhat dark brown colored body with an off-white head. An aroma of nuttiness, lagerness. Pilsner-like. Chocolaty smelling. Somewhat creamy but mostly watery body, nutty taste, malty. Pretty tasty. Some light chocolate. Sweet tasting.

From a 12 oz bottle sent to me from a friend in TN. Aroma is malty with a touch of coffee/bitter chocolate. Color is a deep rusry orange/brick red. Almost no head. Some malt is present, but not overwhelming, with a touch of caramel and a hint of coffee. Bitterness just balances the sweetness, no real hop character, just a little earthy/floral in the background. Body is light for a 5.5% beer. Clean, dry finish with a slight lingering bit of malt.
