Commercial Description:
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

I had quite a few of these in bottle and on tap at various establishments in Nashville. Deep brown body, thin cream head. Toasty nose with notes of chocolate and caramel. Bitter, toasty body, leathery, with leafy hops and caramely malts. Enjoyable ’’everyday drinking’’ beer.

This one poured a brown color with a moderate white head. The flavor contains some nutmeg, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is rather sweet with some chocolate and nutty flavors showing through. The finish is oddly a bit on the dry side. Overall a decent beer.

2008 Knoxville Brewers’ Jam. Pours mahogany with beige head. The aroma is caramel, light smoke, and a touch of clove and banana. Flavor is mild banana and clove with some toastiness and a distant hint of smoke. It finishes with a mildly sour ashiness.

Sampled at the 12th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Clear light brown, chocolate and nutty aromas, bock like. Light and watery in the finish but a nice mellow malt bitter bite. Re-rate on tap at the brewery. Dark brown-orange with a thin white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, grassy hops. Taste is more forward caramel over cocoa notes. Original rating 6:3:5:3:13

Thanks to ckeegan04 for this one Bottle poured into a pint glass produced a two finger tan head that turned to a thin lace The body of the brew was a dark brown and clear Aromas of funk, Yes that is the best I can describe it. Coco and malts are there as well a really unique nose on this The flavors are very sweet malt some nuttiness to it. Good brown ale, medium mouthfeel and a slight dry finish Drinkability is ok; I would order a few of these at a bar. I was looking for a little more from this one considering the writing on the label said it was a Mexican style, to me it was a good nut brown

Draft at the mellow mushroom. Clear reddish brown pour with amber highlights and thin ring of cream white head. Sweet malt aroma. Cloying sweet finish. Average.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown. Bready aroma. Taste is nice and crisp, generally a good beer, nothing overpowering, but nothing inspiring either.

Hm, I couldn’t quite see the point of a "Mexican amber" beer, as they described it while offering it at Brewgrass. Clear brown/amber pour with thin head of big bubbles. Simply tasted like a sweet malty lager to me; slightly metallic. Didn’t really do it for me. I like the label, though.
