This is a hazy brown, much to my surprise. For some unknown reason, I just assumed this was a golden ale since I knew the other two Yazoo bottles were not. The aroma is nutty and caramely with hints at earth and even milk chocolate. There is a wax chocolate flavor along with corn, wheat bread, and something a little tart, but mostly this is a sweet, malty brew. hm. This is alright, especially for a supposed Altbier, but the corny finish doesn’t sit well with me.

Bottle from the last week of August 2009. I keep trying to revisit this because I don’t know what to make of it. I want to like it because it is a little different from the meager selection of beers at the grocery store, but in the end I think it failed to really impress me. The pour is amber with a small head. Aroma is corny with a faint sourness. The flavor is mild with a silky palate. This feels and tastes like a lager what with its vegetal qualities and strange sourness in the finish. So, this is not terrible but I think I’m done with Dos Perros for a while. TChrome (1299), Bedford, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Looks good enough in the glass pouring reddish amber in color with a dissipating beige colored head. Aroma is mildly malty with light dust. Flavor is enjoyable malty with just a bit of corn sweetness and a light spicy hop note. This would be a beer I would drink if it were locally available. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2008 The aroma was malty and nutty with a toasty characteristic of Munich or Vienna malt. The aroma was lightly spicy with caramel and a crisp lager character. The beer poured clear amber brown with a low off-white lasting head which laced the glass. The flavor was nutty with a toasty aspect, again from Munich malt. Caramel was notable along with a light spicy hop character and a light fruity nature. The beer also had a slight bit of roastiness. The body was medium with a moderate level of carbonation. The finish was dry with lasting Munich malt flavor into the aftertaste and beyond. A really nice Vienna Lager. Two bottles at Mortons in Nashville. SmellGood (318), Memphis, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Pours a lovely dark tea with minimal head and a nice coffee aroma. Sweet to the taste and leaves a malty, maybe even chocolate flavor on the palate. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA

Nice dark amber pour with a fairly decent head that fades out to a small ring.
Smells very similar to a brown ale. Some brown sugar sweetness and breadiness.
Very smooth malty taste that I wasn’t expecting with this. Hell, this is a damn good beer....
I could easily session this beer with no problem at all. I have had two Yazoo offerings now and I’m pleasantle surprised with both of them. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2008 12 oz. Huge creamy head that rests atop a clear, dark copper-brown body. Aroma is nut, grain, cocoa, and dry hay. Flavor is a balance of cereal, toasty nut, dry cocoa, light herbs, a sourish tinge, and some malty molasses. Smooth palate has very little tingle and finishes with a slight dry note. I think this is mislabeled as being 3.5% abv (seems more like 5-6%), but is highly sessionable due to the great balance. Flavorful and somewhat unique tasting beer that seems a good hybrid of lager and ale. utufgrl (12), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
