Yazoo Rye Saison

Bottled. Poured medium gold, cloudy, foamy off-white head. Nose is yeasty, horse-blanket, citrus. Flavor is tart, lemony, spicy. Hoppy, dry finish. Refreshing.

Yellow gold in color. Sour nose of sour grains, nice hint of funk. Flavors of lemon and more sourness. Surprisingly firm in texture. I agree with Avengedpoet, "Definitely a unique beer, though not entirely enjoyable." That about sums it up. That being said, my buddy tasting with me enjoyed it a bit more.

Pours a dark golden color with decent-sized head. Aroma is grass, bbq sauce, lemons, and a variety of other spices/fruits/unnamed things. One of the most unique aromas I’ve experienced. Taste is quite grassy, lemony, and has a decided metallic twinge to it. Slightly sweet and very strange. Definitely a unique beer, though not entirely enjoyable.

Bottle shared by Avengedpoet. Pours a lightly hazed golden with a head that consists of large co2 bubbles. Aroma is grass, yeasts, fruit, malt. Flavor is vegetal, bitter, fruity, rye. Very strange brew.

Pours a hazy deep golden yellow with a fleeting white head. Sweet candy malt, fruity aroma. Lightly sweet yet not overly complex. Somewhat middle of the road for the style, but a beer that is well done and it is certainly nice to see the effort from a local brewer.

Clear orange-yellow with a big soft off white head. Aroma is spicy rye malt, sweet, some light fruitiness, esters. Taste is a nice fruitiness from the yeast that plays with the peppery rye malt. Solid and spicy. A cool saison.

Smells bizarrely of ketchup. Beautiful looking beer, medium brown. Tastes strangely like ketchup on rye. Really weird. Probably best served cold with McDonald’s cheeseburgers?

Bottle by way of theisti. Pours a cloudy orange with a thin white head. The nose is fruity and spicy yeast. The taste is sour fruit, spice and yeast with some rye in the background. Medium prickly mouthfeel. Not bad – interesting beer. Thanks Tim!
