Commercial Description:
A very special brew for our fifth anniversary. Brewed with a blend of rye and pale malts, spicy American hops, and a classic farmhouse yeast, for a tart, peppery body and an amazing dry finish. Here’s to five years of Yazoo!

Pours a hazy orange, looks like a hefi. Smalll fizzy head that fizzles out fast. Fruity smell of dried fruit and rye, hint of malts. Taste of orange, spice with a dry tarty finish. Didn’t flatter me, but Saisons really aren’t my thing either.

Cloudy brownish amber, and a thin foamy beige head. Definate rye aromas up front, with some more typical saison funk in the background.Very tart flavor at first, then a mix of rye, lemon and herbs. Seems a little odd, but I liked it.

2009 Bottle. Aroma similar to a hefeweisen; slightly pickly with hints of orange. Appears yellow to amber with a quickly dissipating white head. Tastes like an average hefeweizen with hints of lemon and lime. A little on the fizzy side, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle, shared by NachlamSie. Pours gold with sticky off-white head. The aroma is fruity with noticeable rye; there’s some pear, lemon, peach, coriander, and plenty of sweetness, too. The flavor is rye and light honey and a somewhat bracing fruit and spice combo that makes my jaw twitch at first, but I come to like it after a few sips. It gets more mellow the more I drink. The finish is tropical with a little bit of dryness. Decent.

Bottle shared with Tronraner. Pours light gold with a white head. The body is see through. Lots of rye is noticed in the aroma which I liked; it gives this a tart edge it needs. The flavor is slightly wild, doughy, and flowery with hints at honey and raw grains. I don’t get a lot of the normal saison flavors, but this is fairly grainy and herbal. I’d say the rye really holds this together. It’s interesting.

bottle. Very fruity and light on the palate. Tons of pineapple hit my palate followed by rye and club soda. The finish is citrusy. It never really does it for me, but it does maintain a unique attitude and I seem to put down a bottle without any trouble. I’m glad to at least see something different being brewed in Tennessee.

Pours from 12 oz bottle a hazy medium golden color, forming a mega huge head of foam. Aroma yeast, lemons, a bit of coriander and grasses. Flavour was of peppery yeast, slight funk that yields to lemon zest and metallic tartness. Just doesn’t add up.

Bottle from kp (I think) at February Houston Tasting. Thanks, dude! Pours with a weak orange, thin body with a straw-heavy wheat aroma. Flavor is lemon, coffee, and cold medicine. Bubbly mouthfeel. Not very good.

12oz bottle courtesy of ckeegan04 poured into a tulip. Pours a slightly hazy deep golden with tons of bubbles rushing to the top to feed a big fluffy white head that shows very good retention and laving. A good looking beard. The aroma is an interesting mix of Belgian yeast sweetness with some bubblegum but with lots of citrus as well. Maybe the faintest hint of funk and definitely some rye spiciness as it warms. The taste is a little more tart than the aroma with some tart lemons up front before the light fruit sweetness comes in. The Belgian yeast gives way to a dry finish with hints of spices and a bit more of the lemon zest. The mouthfeel is fairly light with lots of carbonation. This is my first Yazoo beer and it was certainly an original take on the style. The aroma was a little on the sweet side but then the taste brought the tartness and funk a bit more. Tasty.
