Growler courtesy of lithy. Pours dark brown with a ruby red tint and a lasting tan head. Smells of some rye, sweet, earthy, a fruity hint, roasty, some molasses touches. Tastes of rye, nutty, spicy, some metallic touches, light citrus. Full bodied with a bite on the finish. Enjoyable!

Draft at the brewery, part of a sampler. This and Brandon’s Hop Blaster were my favorites on my visit to Yazoo, and hard to pick a winner of the two. Aroma of chocolate malts, rye, grains, coffee, and toast. Well-balanced palate of all of those elements, with really nice rye and malt flavors. Medium bodied, rich, and smooth, with a dry finish.

Tasted 4/18/09. Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition Festival. Thick with an opaque brown hue. Finger width of khaki head. Aromas of rye, pepper and dark fruits. Good toasty malt nose. Full bodied with flavors of cocoa and toffee. Touch coffee acidity. Mildly nutty with dark fruity esters. Sticky finish. Good.

Pours deep mahogany with a large frothy head. The aroma has light cocoa, roasty malt and cream. Medium / light body with very sharp carbonation. The flavor starts a bit spicy along with cocoa, some sourness and overall dryness. The finish is bit on the water side. Okay beer.

Had on draft at the Mellow Mushroom, pours to a dark brown bottle, very little head, body is between light and medium, good flavor with malts and nice roasted taste that is well balanced.

Black pour with a half-inch beige head. Grainy rye aroma. Flavor is dark roasted malt and rye, lightly sweet and smooth. Dry finish. Not bad at all.
