It can be hard to find in the Nashville area, but worth searching for. Spicy mouthfeel with a balanced sweet/dry finish. This brew is on the higher end of ABV offered by Yazoo. This beer is my personal favorite, but the recipe is very similar to other microbrewed Rye Ales in other parts of the country. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

Smells of some rye, sweet, earthy, a fruity hint, roasty, some molasses touches. Tastes of rye, nutty, spicy, some metallic touches, light citrus. Full bodied with a bite on the finish. Enjoyable! mojoman (44), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Nice and rich..chocolaty. Like the stout, you will not find a better brewed porter in middle Tennessee in my opinion. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Nice flavor of rye, chocolate, and dark roasted malt. Rye definitely comes out in the semi dry finish, with some faint notes of spice, bitter chocolate, and hops. Medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel. Nicely balanced, and I think this is Yazoo’s best beer. A great session beer that is worthy of being in a tasting lineup, as long as you like rye beers...which I do.. Linus, if you are reading this, bottle this stuff. It’s good and I’d like to share it with other ratebeerians. tnbeerdrinker (10), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Draft at the brewery, part of a sampler. This and Brandon’s Hop Blaster were my favorites on my visit to Yazoo, and hard to pick a winner of the two. Aroma of chocolate malts, rye, grains, coffee, and toast. Well-balanced palate of all of those elements, with really nice rye and malt flavors. Medium bodied, rich, and smooth, with a dry finish. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of chocolate and coffee with a roasted malt base. Flavor reflected the aroma, with a dry bitter end. Medium/full bodied with mild carbonation.
