Mild and slightly tart aroma. Odd cherry tanginess in the flavor dominates. Slight generic malt and woodiness behing that. These descriptions look better in print than they tasted - they’d be okay in a Flemish red, but not an amber lager. Tart cidery aftertaste. I will save the rest of the sixer for cooking.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Bottled. Poured clear, lighter amber with a short-lived cap of loose white head. The aroma picked up an odd berry jam impression with some vanilla and caramel accents.. lots of seeds that also gave some sourness.. really odd. The flavor was all about the blackberry jam with a little vanilla accenting.. not a whole lot of bitterness to note.. dry finish with residual sweetness. Lighter-bodied and sweet on the palate with a slick feel.. some berry tartness as well.. non-offensive, but certainly bizarre and nothing to bring me back for another. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Lightly hazed dark amber color with a taller light beige head. Light caramel and a bit funky floral aroma. Hints of tropical fruit and perhaps a bit of infection. Light toasted sugar in the front. Bits of tropical fruit and a hint of sourness. Sourness is not overly distracting, but is a bit out of place. Just a bit of floral bitterness. A bit nutty in the linger. nuplastikk (1196), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 11, 2009 12oz bottle. Unfiltered amber-brown color with a big foamy off-white head. Funky sweet aroma with a touch of earthy hops. Somewhat tangy. Medium-bodied. Some mild amber malt notes, balanced out by the odd tartness and slight hoppy crispness. Sweet malty aftertaste with a touch of cherry twang. Seems a touch off, but Ambers are strange creatures. KimJohansen (7049), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle, shared at WeeHeavySD’s Halloween tasting. Pours a clear amber, with a white ring. Mild aroma, of malt and yeast. Taste is sharp, like chemicals and mold. Lingering sharpness that ends watery. Not good. wetherel (1627), Encinitas, California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 18, 2008 What the heck am I doing drinking this swill? I don’t know, but it’s still very cool to try a beer from Yellowstone with an eagle on the bottle. Light amber color. Some stinky sulphur. Kind of burns your tongue. Kind of chemical taste. Drinkable, but barely. Possibly sulpuric acid? IrishBoy (2713), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 1, 2008 12 oz bottle brought back from a Yellowstone trip by my friend John! Nose of caramel, light sweetness, with some butteriness (diacetyl); lightly hazy coppery amber with a medium beige head; flavor is slightly sweet caramel with a very faint butter note (I don’t like diacetyl but this was so faint it was actually pleasant in the flavor).Looks like I got lucky and didn’t get an infected bottle as the ratings go all over. Decent average amber! ironchefscott (342), portland, Oregon, USA
