| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Amber/red very clear, crystal malt in the aroma and comes through in flavour, a mild bitterness is present, though hardly any flavour comes through from the hops. A bit of a bland disappointment. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2004 Pours a lightly ruby/amber with a small, white head. Very malty nose; Flavor is smooth and mellow, lots of malt with not a whole lot of anything else going on. Thin bodied, not very complex at all. Seems like a one-note beer. Refreshing and drinkable, but rather plain. A decent, if uninteresting beer ... kind of like a less robust Bass Ale. eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2004 A delicious, mellow ale that reminds me of sitting in a musty English pub on a Saturday afternoon watching Arsenal. The sun shines throw the filthy pub-window leaving behind a thick haze. This (everso slightly) bitter is chalky and roasty. Unsweet. Deep ruby coloring. A hearty, straightforward beer. No tricks or suprises! Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2004 Bottle. It is good, it just a’int a bitter. Malty with almost no bitter hops. Flavor and aroma hops are there, but no bitter hops, which is odd for a bitter. Enjoyable, but not special. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 21, 2004 This beer was quite typical. After all I had heard at my local pub, I had unrealistic expectations. Didn’[t enjoy this version of a bitter. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2004 Looks and tastes like a typical English Brown Ale with one main difference - it’s not at all sweet. I liked it except for the lack of sweetness. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 13, 2004 Aroma is slight hops, strong caramel, and roasty. Body is brown. 1/2 inch bubbly white head. Doesn’t tastes like the other bitters I’ve had... not as sweet as a brown, but doesn’t have the taste of a bitter. Slight caramel taste, nice mouthfeel though. beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2004 This guy on the bottle didn’t impress me as a cool guy at all. More like a Cockney tramp that don’t know where the hell he is at the moment, much less that he’s on a decent beer label. But I suppose his character holds his own. Sweetness in the palate. Mocha taste coming off it, and a pretty strong butterscotch vibe. And a ... sprig (?)... of ginger on the tounge. Nice pale copper look... a delicious beer. Could tramps afford this good a beer during Victorian times?
