| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2003 Dark amber, nice persistant head throughout. Pretty good banana malt aroma, but has a bit of wet cardboard as well. A very smooth, easy drinking session beer: strong malt presence, but doesn't sit too heavy in the stomache. Some bitter notes on the tongue, but not much else . . . I really like english bitters and could drink this one all night, but it is lacking the complexity of some of the better ones. rgrep (151), Wellington, New Zealand
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 17, 2003 Not only is this beer named after an unwashed patron of Young's famous pub in Bishopsgate, London, but it smells like him too. The aroma has moderate notes of an earthy, sweaty yeast and a medium toasted malt. The colour is a nice dark amber with a creamy lasting off-white head and good lacing. The palate of the brew is lively carbonated and its bitterness grows into the long finish. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2003 Deep clear amber color with a light creamy head with nice lace. Almost a lager aroma. Light malts and hops tingle the senses. A bit fizzy in the palate. Dry finish with a touch of bitter/sweet hops. A true session ale. RichardGretton (3153), Leicestershire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2003 Frothy head initially that is long lasting. The aroma is more malt than hops, with a strong vineous character about it. The flavour is mildly bitter with a hint of fruitiness. Overall a very drinkable ale nigos (620), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2003 A chestnut brown beer with a fine head. It has a slight fruity and spicy aroma. The flavor is a little flat with no sweetness. It contains notes of a little smoke and chocolate. It doesn’t have the smoothness that bitters usually have. But it ends on a very nice bitterness that lingers. An OK beer, but I rather want my bitters more smooth than this. SmellGood (319), Memphis, Tennessee, USA
