Smells and taste like dust but that seems to be a trait of most British brews. Dry palate to boot which also isn’t that great. Sweet malty flavor up front followed by a little dry bitterness. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Bottle. Dark amber brown body with a small creamy tan head (3+). Very English aroma (I assumed it was Marris Otter and Fuggles but I couldn’t tell you which contributed what), light toasted caramel malt. Sweet caramel crystal malt in the flavour has a light pleasant English tang to it. Moderate balancing hop bitterness is nice. Mouth feel is medium slightly more full than average. Nice but I think it might get a touch cloying or heavy after more than a pint or two. Zimmo (57), Siloam Springs, Arkansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2007 500 ml bottle. Pours copper colored with only a slight white head and minimal lacing. Slight aroma does not give warning to the abundant hop flavor that awaits. This is a really nice, fresh tasting brew. Deserves more recognition in my opinion. iowaherkeye (1873), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2007 500mL bottle Best before 02 May 07, 5.2%ABV. Pours an orangish red (think older copper penny) with a one finger lightly beige head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, mild woody and earthy hops, and a bit of a metallic zing. Flavor is mainly caramel malts, with a little bit of the same hops, mild bitterness noted. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. No faults with this brew, but it’s so "plain Jane" that I can’t see to give it much higher. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2007 On tap - uk various pubs. The cheeky name is the best thing going for it. Uninspiring beer, but very drinkable. Yeast, weak hopiness, carbonation, standard beer kind of stuff. andyhite (293), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 19, 2007 appearance yields a bright brown with an average bubbly/foamy head. the noticable malt aroma is only complemented by the chill taste of yeast and malt in the taste. the hops here are definitely european, as they have a slightly bitter finish that is not too often seen by the american brews. luckily, there is a prominent hops domination here, but in my opinion, that is definitely necessary for a well balanced brew. the finish is complemented by a drier finish, but not as much as the belgian brews produce. it’s slightly nutty and a touch of velvet is also there. it’s good, but i’m not nutting over it.
