Beautiful palate - round and pleasing in the mouth. A nice bitter considering it traveled from London to Minneapolis. Domestic micro-breweries would stand to learn a lot with their super-hopped, cross-your-eyes bitter American pale ales (yuck). As classic British bitters go, this was a fine choice. NOTE: Definitely looses many of it’s best characteristics if drunk when too cold. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2006 Plenty of caramel and some toasty malts are notable in the nose along with light fruitiness and some hints of chocolate. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a generous though large bubbled off white head that collapses relatively quickly to a partial cover. Fruity esters and light earthy, floral hops are no match for the abundant caramel malt tones in the flavour. Medium finishing bitterness with some toasted maris character in the aftertaste. Medium light body with fairly pointy carbonation. Somewhat slick in texture. Bottle (5.2%, BB 02-May-07, Bièropholie, Aug-06). adwoan99 (244), Ft. Worth, Texas, USA

This is a pretty fitting add. I like it - not much complexity, very basic but still good. Mostly malts, and slightly sweet considering its genre. I’d take others over it, but wouldn’t pass it up. punkrkr27 (639), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 16, 2006 Chestnut brown pour with a nice dense and lasting off white head. Good lacing. Somewhat fruity aroma, a touch of citrus, mildly toasted sweet malts. Sweet toasted malt flavor with a hint of dark fruits and just a touch of bitterness on the finish. Body is a bit on the thin side but nice and smooth. SudsMcDuff (1702), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

Aroma of both malt and hops. Some caramel sweetness, but balanced nicely with a healthy amount of bitterness. A little more carbonation than other beers of this style, but that’s something I favor. 17thfloor (1499), Chicago, Illinois, USA
