A chestnut brown beer with a fine head. It has a slight fruity and spicy aroma. The flavor is a little flat with no sweetness. It contains notes of a little smoke and chocolate. It doesn’t have the smoothness that bitters usually have. But it ends on a very nice bitterness that lingers. An OK beer, but I rather want my bitters more smooth than this.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a creamy head. Very dry, without much body or much bitterness. Highly drinkable but also a bit bland. 300101

Dark nut brown. Dry. Neutral. Relatively bitter. A well balanced but rather one dimensional beer.

Bottled. Dark copper coloured, huge foamy longlasting beige head, lacing. A bit skunky nose with hints of roast and honey. Smooth flavour which is a bit fruitish at first but then turns pretty skunky. Dry finish and bitter aftertaste.

Golden-brown colour. Light caramelly taste. Fairy quick. Hint of cardboard. This type of by-the-numbers bland bottled ale is why so many Americans (and others) think English ales aren’t very interesting.

Clear light-copper body topped by a medium light-tan head. Aroma is nutty and slightly floral. Taste is moderately earthy bitter, but not much else. Fairly light body.
