Youngs Double Chocolate Stout

Jet black pour with a large, creamy brown head that shows good persistence and lacing. Aroma is quite delightful, with roasted malt, milk chocolate, sweet chocolate-flavour syrup and some almonds. Very similar flavours: a bit of cocoa in amongst the roasted grains, more milk chocolate, and a finish combining the roasted malt bitterness and chocolately sweetness. Quite gentle and easy to drink. Creamy body and carbonation. Perhaps the carbonation is a bit prickly for the style?

16.9oz. can Pours a nice creamy head. Aroma is of chocolate that you want to keep on sniffing. Taste is of creamy chocolate, and it leaves a super frothy lacework on the glass.

In the bottle’s good, but in the can’s even better. Drink this with a chocolate cheesecake.

Pours black almost no head. Mild aroma. Very strong flavour of dark chocolate. Sweet to start and a dry finish. Chocolate dominates the nose and palate. Slighty hoppy finish. Really cool stout.

Bottle, 500 ml. Great pour, lovely dark body with suitably full off-white, persistent, head. Full aroma of sweet malt, and full palate of chocolately cream stout. Very decent bottle.

Dark brown with huge, lasting light brown head. Roasted malts with sweet cocoa beans and milk chocolate in the aroma. Dark chocolate in the flavor with soft and creamy, medium dry mouthfeel. Roasted barley, long lasting dry coffee feel in the finish. Worth mentioning stout.

2009 Tap. I’m a bit shocked that I never rated this, because I drink it fairly regularly. An absolutely wonderful stout. Aroma of cocoa and dark roasted malts. Very creamy, whipped mouthfeel and as dark as engine oil with a light brown head. Tastes of a solid stout with strong hints of chocolate. This is a great beer!
