Pours black with a small brownish head. Nose is chocolate. Taste is chocolate and toffee, with a malt finish.

Pours a dark black color with a small tan head. Laces well. Smells of chocolate, coffee, malt, and smoke. Taste is strong of chocolate kind of like a caffe mocha. Really good balance of bitter taste at the end. Excellent beer with a big flavor. Very satisfying.

Bottle from Waitrose.. I’ve not tried this since it moved away from London. It was a regular fridge beer for me a few years back. Smooth and well balanced for a pasturised bottled beer, the chocolate combined well with the roasted malt and brewing sugars with just enough english hops to keep it refreshing. I bet that it’s not so good now.

Bottle. Pours a deep black-brown with a reddish hue. Heavy initial light brown head dissolves quickly with minimal, but appreciable, lacing. Aroma heavy with dark chocolate and brown sugar. Taste is all baking chocolate and cocoa with only a little bit of malty bitter finish. A second taste brings more burnt flavors, like the bottom layer of a pan of brownies. Nice tasting beer. Too bad it doesn’t have more kick; it could be special. Perhaps my disappointment stems from my love of the style and my sense that it should carry, even when not an Imperial, a bigger stick.

Pours an almost black with a tan semi creamy head. Big aromas of chocolate, with some burnt malts, caramel, whiskey, and wood. Many flavors here of a dark roasted almost burnt chocolate, little caramel, wood, hint of hops, hint of whiskey, and a little vanilla. Leaves a nice burnt roasted malt note on the palate. Has a slight sweetness and almost dry with a little bitterness. A nice chocolate stout.

Pint on tap at Stout NYC. Pours a opaque dark brown color, nice smooth creamy head. Noticeable lacing on the side of the glass as the drink progressed. Aroma was sweet and malty as expected. Taste was sweet chocolate. Very smooth. Very enjoyable beer, nice sweet change of pace from the dry stouts.

500ml. Wonderful aftertaste. After consumption you will likely breathe chocolate for a while! Which is definitely a defining factor of this brew.

500ml bottle. black with big brown creamy head. Aroma is chocolate big time, a bit syrupy also. Very rich aroma. Finish is quite dry and chocolate bitter. Quite malty. Finish is roasted malt and sweet. Hints of vanilla also. Very nice beer. Very drinkable and tasty.
