Can @UlKløbben.
Brown with off-white head.
Sweet chocolate nose.
Chocolate taste on sweet but thin base. No carbonation out of can!
Not my cup of thee. rflambert (5), Virginia, USA does not count Jun 13, 2009 Drinks a lot like a guiness as in very smooth but with a pretty full chocolate flavor... ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Jun 7, 2009 Poured a dark muddy brown with a thick tan head. Chocolate was very prevalent in the aroma and taste, but it was much more mellow then a previous chocolate stout that I had tried (southern tier). Mouth is a bit thin for me, kind of like the difference between Yoohoo and chocolate milk. Not a bad beer, but not near the top of my favorite stouts. probstk (1005), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep brown-black with a decent mocha head.
Aroma: Strong milk chocolate with vanilla, like smelling a hot chocolate (go figure!), some black coffee and hints of tangy, earthy fruits,
Palate: Medium body and sparse carbonation.
Flav.: Still chocolaty, but more dusty and musty, still some vanilla and black coffee, more tangy fruit and some bitter green herbs, slightly earthy; off-dry with decent bitterness.
True to the name, not Dfonorow (31), New Jersey, USA Jun 3, 2009 It pours a darwn brown with a milky head which fades quickly. It smells like dun dun dunnnnn!!!! chocolate, which a little bit of roasted malt. Even though it smells divine, the taste is a little disappointing: bland, with a slight chocolate taste. This brew is lacking in the texture, and has almost no body to it, it tastes good but nothing like I thought it would after the first whiff after pouring. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 2, 2009 Draft pour is solid black with the creamy white head that you would expect. Sweet choc. aroma and some roast. Very smooth and creamy choc flavor with enough roast finish, but to me all these nitrogen beers seem weak in the body. I know that is the point is an easy drinking creamy feel, but it’s just too watery. Still the best out of all beers that have a widget that I’ve had. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 I smell everything! Breate deep every time you are thinking about how this smells. Chocolate aroma is the biggest, but not by much. This is very complex. It’s fresh, warmer smelling than any beer I’ve tried - humid actually, has a dark roasted nuttiness, flavoured malts and slightly dusty. You can notice the faintest hint of alcohol...but I’ve been smelling this for 15+ minuites...it just keep changing. But none of this comes even close to being overpowering at all. A perfect pour produced a HUGE dark tan head that occupied 1/3 of my glass. Now that I’m done the aroma part of the review it’s finally gone. Very very dark, but still has a noticable reddish hue. The intensity of the differnet flavours waver throughout the tasting, but once again never overpower the beer. More sweet than bitter chocolate goodness, soft roasted malts and a slight candy?? not sure there...I’ll have to add more on the next bottle cause by time I got this far, I’ve only got about 2 sips left - too busy enjoying it. Mouthfeel is freaking awsome. Man, can I feel the bitterness of the chocolate and the roasted flavour on my tongue. Good bitterness and a slight sweet bitter aftertaste. Very smooth. This beer has made me very happy. Now that I can actually appreciate a beer like this, it will be on constant supply at my house. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada May 31, 2009 Bottle. Poirs a rich deep, dark brown, with surprising clarity. A thick tan head is persistent, but with poor lacing. Aroma is muted, with roasted barley, chocolate, and coffee present but not terribly expressive. Palate is big and roasty, with a massive chocolateyness that dominates all else. Palate is a little thin, and carbonation is a little bit coarse. Overall a very good stout, but not one of the best I’ve had.
