ersma: bier und schoko - das passt gut. haben doch viele dunkle ohnehin schoko-noten.
das bier ist als schwarz zu bezeichnen, aber nur in ermangelung dunklerer farben. recht viel bräunlicher schaum, der ale-typisch recht flüchtig ist.
geruch ist süßlich mit deutlicher schoko-note.
der antrunk ist herb-bitter. das aroma von schokolade ist deutlich, aber nicht penetrant. des weiteren kaffee und lakritz, welche schön mit der schokki harmonieren, welche durch die deutlichkeit süßer wirkt als der übliche aromahauch anderer dunkler biere. die mitte ist malziger, wobei die ale-typische bittere im hintergrund vorhanden bleibt, ebenso wie die schokolade. gegen ende drehen die aromen noch mal auf - schoko und kaffee vor allem, hier hats auch etwas von pflaume. röstig.
die hauseigene flasche hat wie immer merkwürdige farbzusammenstellungen, hier lila, gold, orange.
fazit: trinkschokolade mochte ich schon immer. is man bloß gut, dass die engländer kein reinheitsgebot haben und daher in der lage sind, wirklich spannende biere zu brauen. unbedingt probierenswert.

Feb 24, 2009 500 ml bottle. Black color, frothy tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Smooth dark chocolate flavor with a dry finish. Medium body, medium carbonation. Straightforward but nice.

Feb 24, 2009 0,5l bottle. Very dark color, good rich head. Nose includes chocolate, vanilla and tobacco. Flavor is quite roasted, with espresso and chocolate tones. A very nice and classic brew.

Feb 22, 2009 Bottle. Black beer. This beer is all about chocolate! If WIlly Wonka would have to make a choice between this beer and Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, I think he would go with this one. Small hint of smoke in aftertaste. Nice beer.
