DennisCochran (2), Maryland, USA does not count Feb 21, 2009 Updated: Feb 22, 2009Perhaps it’s just the style phase I’m in right now, but in my personal ratings of 150 beers there are only two that get a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. This is one of them. I’ve also introduced it to many friends that share my opinion.
Also, I tried a blind comparison between the bottle and the nitro can. The bottle was clearly better. BroSpud (583), , Massachusetts, USA Feb 21, 2009 Nitrocan. This is another classic that I enjoy from time to time. It’s a good one to introduce non-stout drinkers to. And yes, it is chocolately. Better once it has warmed up a bit. rudy (12), New York, USA Feb 20, 2009 the mecha of all beers. I have had this beer in all formats, (can, bottle, tap) and its simply outstanding no matter what. The appearance is a dark thick creamy body, with a creamy slightly brown head. it smells like chocolate milk, and taste like it to. Its rich, sweet, velvety, and smooth, and seems to only get better as it warms. chocolate is present throughout, with just a touch of bitterness, it goes down smooth and creamy and the head is with you to the last sip. like drinking a nice glass of chocolate milk. hard to find anything wrong with this beer. ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Feb 18, 2009 can. poured black with a thick frothy beige head. aroma of caramel, semi-sweet chocolate, and a touch of vanilla. flavor was smooth with slight coffee roast and chocolate. light body no carb with kind of a watery finish. the body really turned me off to this one. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2009 500 mL bottle. Pours a deep brown with a 2-finger frothy tan head. The head settled down to a thin frothy layer that kept the beer’s surface fully covered, leaving lots of lace on the sides of the glass as it was sipped. The aroma is sweet malt and unmistakeably chocolaty. The taste is sweet malt, toasted malt, and cocoa with a hoppy aftertaste followed by a note that is like when you take the cover off a box of chocolates but you taste it instead of smelling it, then fading to a note that is like good black coffee. I like it! I’m a sucker for those full-flavored beers that you can almost lift out of the glass with a fork and this one fits one of my top choices. emotv (331), Izmir, Turkey Feb 18, 2009 Tasted at Ganzo Florance. Very deep brown colour. Small head. Chocolate, Sweet and malty taste. I actually do not like that kind of sweet beers so much. But the mouthfeel is nice. To be objective good beer. For subjective I am not a big fan. trayns (237), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA Feb 17, 2009 Nitro Can. Pours a dark brown, with little head. Aroma is of chocolate, taste is pretty thin, but chocolate dominates the falvor of this one. Overall, not as big and robust as I was expecting. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA Feb 16, 2009 The absolute best chocolate stout ever produced it is the best when served from a nitrogen can
