nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 16, 2009 On nitro tap at the Ye Olde Falconers pub in Fort Lauderdale. Poured a dark brown color with a creamy, two finger tan head. The aroma was heavy with chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor was bitter chocolate, milk chocolate and hints of coffee and roasted malt. This was an excellent beer. CMGiangeruso (1), USA does not count Feb 16, 2009 This beer should not be served ice cold. Very nice pour with a tasty head that you dont want to diminish, but does. Once the bottle opens, the scent of chocolate will touch you nose. The first sip is delightful to the palate, a bit bitter with a chocolately finish that hangs around. Its as good as desert. A personal favortie. Easy access at most good stores. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2009 Let this beer warm up a bit out of the fridge! You will thank me afterwards ; )Thick, rich head and a deep roasted black pour. The first thing you notice is the wonderful bittersweet chocolate aroma with a splash of roasted character. This is a beer that, every time I pick it up I look at it in the light, inhale the aroma deeply, and then drink a mouthful. Chocolately up front on the palate with a bitterness that is blended well with the inherent sweetness of the chocolate. Finishes very lightly roasty and dry and leaves a pleasant chocolately aftertaste. A perfect after-dinner sipping beer to share around. Sonicdescent (372), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 13, 2009 Updated: Aug 24, 2009While not exactly a crazy beer by any means, it’s one of my favorites and a go-to staple. Beautiful in appearance, with a black pour and a frothy head from the bottle, even smoother look from the nitro can. Smells well, like chocolate guinness.
Tastes like...chocolate guinness. Again, nothing crazy complex, just damn tasty. poolboy (66), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Feb 12, 2009 I drink quite a bit of this one. Its easy to find and so delicious. Lots of chocolate and roasted malt. A bit of alcoholic taste which prevents me from rating it higher. A light smokey but creamy aftertaste and a good bit of carbonation makes it refreshing as well as tasty. Highly recommended. BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Feb 11, 2009 Black with dense tan head. Nose is big chocolate. Sweet cocoa (no surprise given the name), big and rich. Soft on the tongue, smooth and creamy. Quite comforting. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 10, 2009 Being from Hershey, PA I am a fan of this one. Dark brown color with a thick off-white head. Chocolate and roasted malt on the aroma. Flavor is malty with rich dark chocolate, a little nutty. Creamy and chocolatey palate, medium-to-full body. Like a ride down the ol’ Hershey highway (I mean US Route 322, not the other meaning).
