one16thamish (4), Colorado, USA does not count Oct 10, 2009 Nice dark color. Thick creamy head. nice lacing. Its all about the nitrogen! love the impact nitro has on the smoothness/head/drinkability of beers. Slipstream (734), USA Oct 9, 2009 Updated: Oct 20, 2009I finally got around to trying this English brew, expecting it to be somewhat similar to the other widely available UK imports, and it started out that way, with a pint can containing a widget rattling around inside it. But then I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is more than just a mellow English ale, it is a first rate chocolate concoction. Black as night pour with a creamy head. Malty, chocolate aroma and a rich British ale flavor with lots of tasty chocolate. It is not sweet, but it is not hard either - a very good pint! agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2009 Aroma - bold chocolate, heavy malt;
Appearance - black, opaque, very thick creamy head, excellent lacing;
Flavor - roasted malt front, barely sweet, complex chocolate back, dry finish;
Palate - uniquely smooth, heavy body;
Overall - almost like chocolate’s liquid form, very balanced, very complex, very tasty, very good. Spab (236), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 6, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a deep, dark brown with good-sized tan head. Nose of dark chocolate and coffee, somehwhat sweet. Taste is more roasty and coffeeish than aroma, athough chocolate emerges more as the beer warms. Surprisingly thin body given the big nose and flavour. All in all pretty nice. Beerapprentice (111), Hopatcong, New Jersey, USA Oct 5, 2009 (Nitro) On draft at Rattle n Hum. Pours a dark chocolate colour with a creamy beige head. Delicious flavor of chocolate,and malts. Aroma is the same as the aroma. Coffee, malts, chocolate aroma.
Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 4, 2009 Ive never dug this overly much. Wait, does that make sense ?. The writing on the bottle is lame ass . This just smells of gimicky concepts. I love Brooklyn’s Chocolate brew. That has beer’y qualities with the chocolate profile. This is sorta generic. Tastes a bit too much like chocolate iceing . A beer for chicks and girlie men . BrotherGrendel (545), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 26, 2009 Draft at Small Bar. Brown hue with thick creamy tan head and huge lacing. Nose is a chocolate milkshake with light roast. Flavor is creamy milk chocolate with a hint of dark chocolate on the edges, touch of sweet marshmallow and grassy English hop flavor, finishes like a Wendys Smoothie. Full-bodied, creamy silky texture, modest carbonation. A very easy drinking and flavorful chocolate stout, the alcohol presence is nil and the body is fluffy like a cloud. Yummy! Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2009 deep dark black, light caramel head. nose of chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts, taste is really chocolatey, very delicious.
