jeremytoni (1067), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Nov 20, 2008 From a bottle poured dark brown with a fair amount of head. Nice chocolatey malty flavor with a quick finish. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Nov 20, 2008 Poured an attractive dark color that was almost black with a nice tan head that dissipated rather quickly. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee. Taste is also of chocolate with just a touch of coffee. It is sweet with not as much hop character as Rogue’s offering. I thought the mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side. I liked it, however, and it was pretty damn drinkable.
jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Nov 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a thick thick brown almost black with a creamy brown head, feathery and silky and it lingers. Smells like raw chocolate, roasty, almost burnt, sweet and very malty. Tastes nutty, roasty, malty sweet followed by bitternes, and very sticky. It wouldbe hard to drink this one fast, but why would you want to? Its worth taking your time on this one. tarheels86 (700), Washington DC, USA Nov 2, 2008 Updated: Jan 8, 2009500 mL bottle. Pours ultra dark brown but not jet black with a nice, one finger, dark tan head. Great lacing! Aroma is cocoa, roasted malt, nuts, and milk chocolate. Taste is slightly watery- close to Guinness Draught- but still creamy on the palate. Aftertaste is short and neutral with milk chocolate. Overall, excellent and a pleasure to drink. Archibaldo de la Cruz (394), Finland Nov 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2009Bottle. Dark brown colour with a nice light brown head. Malty aroma with some cocoa. The flavour is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of coffee. Medium-bodied and quite smooth mouthfeel. Tasty brew. Borgen (28), Denmark Oct 31, 2008 Bottle. The beer is dark brown with small white head. The first zip is good but during the beer it becomes kind of flat. ceffalo (38), , Texas, USA Oct 31, 2008 Ale with natural chocolate flavor added. Pours a lot like a Guinness stout. A thin aroma of sweetened and roasted wheat with a hint of chocolate. Supposedly tastes better warm so I’m rating it at room temperature. Tastes of unsweetened chocolate. Very rich and creamy but also a little watery. boozah (6), , Australia does not count Oct 30, 2008 Pours jet black with a dark beige-tan head. Thick mouth feel without being syrupy. Aroma not prominent (stye appropriate) but roast malt and chocolate definitely there. Chocolate unsurprisingly prominent in the flavour, but not overwhelmingly so, and helps bridge malt and hop flavours. Roast and chocolate malt flavours and hop bitterness firm but not excessive, with a tight finish. A good dessert beer which would also not be out of place on breakfast cereal (:P)
