Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Oct 23, 2008Maybe the best palate of any beer I’ve ever tasted, just creamy chocolate with a hint of coffee and malt behind it. Tastes like a candy bar or maybe hershey syrup. I bet this beer would be outstanding over vanilla ice cream and think I should probably try that soon. Strangebrewer (208), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2008 Poured black with lasting tan head. Cold coffee aroma. Light mouthfeel, bitter coffee taste with very little chocolate. Not very creamy, watered down with alcoholic finish. 1010 (206), Marysville, Ohio, USA Oct 16, 2008 pours a deep black with a tan head that disapates quickly. Has a mild chocolate taste with some malt. Taste like a blend of guinness and a hersey bar. Very drinkable but not very strong. I expected a little more.
Large can Chipper (179), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 15, 2008 Pours nearly black with a light brown head. Malty and chocolate dominate the aroma. Taste is chocolate and a little malt. Not as "big’ as I thought it would be, but very drinkable. everettvh (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 13, 2008 Pint at Graydon’s Crossing (Plainfield). Arrived still slowly gathering it’s head. Short but very thick, like melted ice cream. Aroma of dark cocoa, slight coffee, and roasted sugar. Flavorful taste, including chocolate, bready malt, and finishes with dark chocolate. Great palate. A great beer. Ported (67), Ontario, Canada Oct 12, 2008 Black with a decent tan head. Aroma is fairly weak, but it makes up for it in flavour. Lots of chocolate and malts, somewhat smokey/burnt. Well balanced, not a difficult drink at all. Good stuff! gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Oct 10, 2008 Updated: Oct 13, 2008Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate. The taste was like chocolate coke or doctor pepper with chocolate syrup added. High carbonation. kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Oct 9, 2008 Can pours opaque black with thick tan head and very nice lacing. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate. First taste is sweet with slight chocolate bitterness. Pretty well balanced with no taste linger. I dont know if it was just the can but it seemed to be a little watery. Good stout otherwise.
