Nose of smoked and heavily roasted barley and malts. Fresh from the pour, there was a bit of the hops present but those are quickly overwhelmed by the smoked malt. The thin head settles to just a fine coating but then lasts for some time. Medium body. Only chocolate seems to come from the malt. If you’re expecting the purple, gold, velvet, and silk luxury that the lable suggests, this coal mine will disappoint.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a full brown body with a medium brown head. The nose is a little bitter with citrus and soap notes. The palate is rather waterish with a smoothiness in the end. Thr taste is light and a little harch - dominated of the chocolate flavour and roasted malts with hoppy sidenotes. Finish is light chocolate with some biterness on the side. Use this one in your spicy chilli con carne ...for that it is great.

Bottle. Black with foamy beige head. Nose is milk chocolate, dry burned malts. Same milk chocolate in the flavor, smooth burned amlts and cocoa. Very simple. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. I remembered this being thicker, but no no. Those "special blend of sugars" and "chocolate essence" sure sound good.

Getting my notebook online. Bottle. Pours a rich creamy looking head, dark and opaque black rich color. Not much to the aroma, hints of chocolate. Taste is incredibly full taste: bitter, sweet, smooth acidy fruits. Chocolate hints towards the end. Good stout, very complex and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown, nice tan head. Aroma is bakers chocolate, maybe some malt. Flavor is again dominated by bakers chocolate, malt and a touch of smoke in the background. Finish is very smooth and short.

Poured into a pit glass. Nice Dark color with a nice inch of head. The lacing was good and I definitely smelled chocolate, malt and coffee. In regards to the taste it was the same. Definitely a nice beer with a smooth finish and taste.

Bottle. I don’t see what the fuss is about. The chocolate flavour is huge and overkill; likely cause is the added chocolate. Flavour is heavy handed and one dimensional. Relatively full mouthfeel. Unbalanced.

Bottle, pours dark black and smells like a chocolate bar. Taste is creamy and sweet with chocolate and a little bit vanilla. This is so rich and creamy that it’s a perfect desert beer. I’ve heard of people making beer floats with this, I can’t wait to try.
