Youngs Double Chocolate Stout

On tap at the Englander pub in San Leandro. Pours black with a creamy layer of off white head. The aroma is very stout like with strong notes of chocolate and roast. The flavor is the same. Super chocolaty with hints of licorice on the palate. Smooth and low in carbonation. Nice stout, just a little heavy on the sweet chocolate.

Dark black color. Roasty aroma. gentle chocolate and malt flavors that glide across the tongue. Very dessert like.

pint glass: I long for the day when I try one of the top stouts. This beer was very nice, some creaminess blended the chocolate, sugars and bitters together. I thought the beer was a bit watery and a little more sweet than I prefer.

Nice aroma, interesting taste, nice finish but then ruined with a mouthfeel that’s like charred steak.

Pours a dark brown, but black in the glass. Large tan head, slippery lace. Roasted aroma of chocolate and light hops. Could not detect a lot of chocolate in the flavor, but was still enjoyable. There is some coffee bitterness that lingers on the finish. Medium bodied with minimal carbonation.

Bottle. Pours pure black, with a heavy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffe, roasted malts. Full body with a creamy palate. Rich finish. Great chocolate stout.

Bottle. Pitch black with a thick light tan head. Very thick pouring. Strong aroma of chocolate, burnt malt, milk. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, caramel, cream, and darkly roasted malt. Thick and creamy with a very full body. A sweet, creamy taste that is balanced very well by the burnt, roasted flavor of the malt. Finish of roasted malt and chocolate. An exquisite beer. There is chocolate in the beer, but it is not overdone and the balance is nearly perfect.
