redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Jun 11, 2008 pub can @ redlight redlight.... Pours black with tan cascading bubbled into a dense tan head. Lactic sugars, hints of milk chocolate with vanilla and slight hints of coffee. Watery chocolate flavor, like Yahoo (i hate Yahoo) creamy roasted malts with some vanilla and slight hints of coffee. Not my favorite chocolate stout. GangGreen712 (44), Woodstock Valley, Connecticut, USA Jun 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 20, 2008Pours almost a chocolate milk color and settles almost black; thick head, though not as thick as, say, Guinness. Palate is a bit lighter than I was expecting for a stout, but b no means weak. Chocolate taste is VERY pronounced and it gets stronger as the beer warms. Overall, this is an excellent beer! drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 8, 2008 Come to papa... Yessir, this’n is a fine beer. A true delight. A mastery of brewing prowess. Poured with a very fine creamy tan head. Opaque almost black color. abundant chocolate character. Fine carbonation. Everything is in superb balance. Good finish, but perhaps not really a session beer. Still, it’s one of the best of its class. Having a draught of this at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wis. USA dalepryor (172), Paducah, Kentucky, USA Jun 7, 2008 pours pitch black, heavy chocolate malt aroma! The taste is pretty much the same, smooth chocolate with some bitterness at the end, very creamy and delicious. This is one stout i’ve returned to for a while now! gonzo46and2 (108), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 3, 2008 On tap at World of Beer Tampa. Just fantastically smooth and creamy. Aroma is very chocolately. Great sweetness. Nice bitterness balance. Pinball (2685), Allerød, Denmark May 31, 2008 too much chocolate and not even gourmet chocolate. otherwise reasonably balanced, good aroma, imo far from the stout elite. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada May 30, 2008 500ml bottle, 5.2% a/v
Pours opaque black, with a surprisingly large head for a stout. Aroma is subdued and consists of chocolate and deep purple grape j uice. Taste is very chocolatey, almost mocha chocolate, giving way to a very mildly bitter aftertaste. Fairly sweet, almost too much so for my tastes. Still a good brew but not too rich to have alot of it. yumyum (113), barrie, Ontario, Canada May 30, 2008 pours black with tan head. Aroma of chocolate evident but not overly strong. First few sips were great, chocolate taste evident but not overpowering giving way to a slight bitter finish. After the first few sips my taste buds seemed to develop an immunity to it. It was still a nice drink but seemed to lack flavour after the first few sips. A decent brew but lacking staying power. Would take harviestoun old engine oil over this if wanted chocolate taste in beer.
