yumyum (118), barrie, Ontario, Canada May 30, 2008 pours black with tan head. Aroma of chocolate evident but not overly strong. First few sips were great, chocolate taste evident but not overpowering giving way to a slight bitter finish. After the first few sips my taste buds seemed to develop an immunity to it. It was still a nice drink but seemed to lack flavour after the first few sips. A decent brew but lacking staying power. Would take harviestoun old engine oil over this if wanted chocolate taste in beer. zeke626 (301), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 29, 2008 Bottle, pours a somewhat viscous, dark brown body with red hues and bubbly, brown head. Aroma of fine dark chocolate with hints of nuts and roasted malts. Initially the flavor is smooth chocolate/cocoa, then followed by the roasted chocolate malts and finishing with a light cocoa bitterness. The body is a little on the light side, but there is enough flavor there to stave off a watery mouthfeel. Very drinkable and tasty. DerBiermeister (504), Birmingham, Alabama, USA May 26, 2008 Smells like a fine candy chocolate elixir. Beautiful notes of chocolate are music to my ears. Most chocolate beers taste like a poor imitation of both. This one actually tastes great. It’s like a dessert beer. The chocolate isn’t overwhelming or fake-tasting. It still tastes like beer, only chocolatier. ChrisTurner (202), Melbourne, Australia May 25, 2008 Intense black with large tan cappuccino froth head with excellent retention and lashings of lacing. Aroma is quite gentle nutty chocolate. Up front, the flavour is milk chocolate, giving way to lightly roasted flavours and more chocolate. Slight bitterness, but mainly sweet chocolate, but not overstated. Delicious and nicely balanced. hoppopotamus (182), Santa Cruz, California, USA May 24, 2008 A black beer with a small cream head that doesnt last but leaves lace. Aroma is not terribly chocolaty, but has the usual roasty burnt toast / roast coffee flavors of most stouts with a little sweetness. The flavor does have a chocolate aspect, it’s like a normal stout but sweeter, it almost reminds me of a cola. A bit thin in the mouthfeel and not terribly intense in flavor or aroma. A tad gimicky I think, overrated. jeanmath (8), Quebec, Quebec, Canada does not count May 24, 2008 On tap, in nice place called Blind Tiger NY city. The best stout i ever taste, delightful. Very creamy head the aroma is chocolate ice cream, sweet and tasteful. Excellent stout. hogan873 (317), Joliet, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 A beautiful beer. Pours black with a thick tan head that leaves heavy lacing. Very nice aroma of chocolate and malt. Mouthfeel is a bit weak with no carbonation. The brew is extremely smooth and sweet. Chocolate, malt, and just a touch of bitterness at the end. This type of stout is not my favorite, but this one is very good. scooterc (13), Houston, Texas, USA May 22, 2008 Pint can with gas dart. Pours thick and foamy with fine beige head. Fun to pour! Aroma is rich, chocolaty, hint of tobacco(?). Medium mouthfeel with no carbonation. Flavor somewhat chocolatey, obviously, and a little nutty. Very filling. Very enjoyable stout.
