Bottle - I love chocolate and I love beer. I even like eating chocolate while drinking beer. However this, my first chocolate beer is not that great. It has a nice chocolaty aroma. Colour is dark murky brown, almost black. Flavour is dominated by an artificial chocolate taste and and burnt ashy flavour which I like. Medium carbonation and body. Lightly bitter finish with a bit of a chemical aftertaste.

So this one smells of chocolate, looks of chocolate, and tastes of chocolate. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do it on a grand scale. With a name like "Double Chocolate Stout", one would expect to double the intensity of aroma, appearance, and flavor. Just comes up short on all categories. Tasty, yes...twice as tasty as other "chocolate stouts"...NOT SO MUCH!!!

Pours black with creamy thick brown head. Strong chocolate aroma of malt, coffee and a hint of hops. The flavor is chocolate and espresso wonderfully balanced with hops and burned malt. Very creamy, full and smooth. Dry smoky and slightly bitter finish.

I mis-read the ratings scales (first time user). This re-rate is my intended opinion. I’m not an expert but this beer is one of the most enjoyable I’ve ever had. SInce it all comes down to individual taste, I found this to be wonderfully creamy, slightly bitter and it didn’t overwhelm with hops the way so many stouts do (which is why I usually prefer porters). The malt and the chocolate came together for a very smooth, satisfying pint.

Bottle. What chocolate? This Stout fell short of anything I could even imagin. Fake chocolate aroma, even worse taste of artificial chocolate. This is my against the grain rating and drain pour. Really bad beer.

opaque beer with persistent foamy head. NICE NOSE; full of what it boasts -chocolate, malt, maple syrup, french toast. the taste is living right up to the nose and revealing some other, dryer toasted coffee and bread flavors. smooth and soft mouthfeel. the girlfriends favorite beer. totally lives up to its name.

This is one of the better stouts I’ve tried to date, but I don’t think I’d feel the same if I drank a bunch of them. Pours a black color with a nice thick tan head. Quite a bit of lacing on the glass too. Aroma is quite a bit of chocolate with a nice burned malt scent as well. It’s a surprisingly smooth beer with chocolate, malts, and a nice roasted flavor in there. Slightly bitter and dry at finish.
