bermod (118), Lappeenranta, Finland Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Aug 17, 2008Roasted malty aroma has a lot milk chocolate, toffee & coffee. Some smoke and caramel-like sweetness in the taste. Very nice, but could be more bigger. Wanderer (33), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 11, 2008 Bottle, Thick creamed pour with medium offwhite head. Aroma promisses loads and yet loads of chocolate with delicate hinst of vanilla. Easy to drink, flavor with loads of chocolate and a little coffee. Flavor is good for low alcohol content... 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 11, 2008 [Bottle] Pours dark rootbeer colored with a creamy milky brown froth. Strong vanilla, milk and milk-chocolate aroma. Some chocolate-milk and some smoked peat flavors? Somewhat vinous, pretty English. Easy to pick out both the crystal and chocolate malts. Very mellow beer, not too sweet and quite milky. Slight coffee dryness in the finish. Palate is smooth creamy but on the watery side. Really easy drinking with a nice sharp ale finish. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Apr 9, 2008 Strong malty aroma, a little bit of chocolate. Nice brown/black color, very dark, with persistent brown head. Flavor has a nice roasted coffee and chocolate thing going on, and has an appropraite sweetness. The palate has a complex blend of sugars and coffee left on it, also pretty good. Not my favorite stout, but a good one. mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Apr 9, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, both milk chocolate and darker more bitter chocolate, together with some coffee beans. Flavour is very much alike the aroma - smooth with both milk chocolate and darker and more bitter chocolate with some coffee. A small amount of bitterness. An OK effort, just a bit boring. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Apr 9, 2008 Bottle. Very thin bodied and lightly carbonated. Pours with a nice head nonetheless. Aroams and flavors are dominated by chocolate, however there is just enough hoppiness in the finish to make it interesting. Gets better when it warms. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 8, 2008 Pours black into the glass with a white head. Looks nice, aroma is toasty. Flavor is very sweet and chocolaty, but has enough bite to be drinkable mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Apr 6, 2008 Youngs Double Chocolate Stout is averything that it promises. The color is black with a very pronounced deep brown head. The aroma is smoked and full of chocolate and the flavor has so much chocolate that you almost think you are drinking chocolate syrup!
