BarossaLuke (88), Australia Mar 21, 2008 Wow!! What a beer, bottled version found it in Stirling. Jet black colour wafting of chocolate, mocha and roast malt. The chocolate really comes through on the palate witha hint of sweetness, but it finishes dry. The palate weight let me down a little, this was my first time to try this and I expected it to be more full bodied. But a great beer none the less. ontheroad (25), Buffalo, New York, USA Mar 20, 2008 Pours with a full head that holds up well. Has a somewhat weak aroma, but the flavor is full of coffee and roasted malt with a creamy bitter chocolate finish. WesKBob (317), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Mar 19, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008A beautiful-looking beer that pours a dark almost black color with moderate caramel-colored head. The head is really lasting and has beautiful lacing that coats the sides of the glass. Aroma is sweet with definite cocoa chocolate smells. Flavor is of dark chocolate and coffee malt. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. A little thinner than most stouts, but very nice. paulmetzger (152), Pocatello, Idaho, USA Mar 17, 2008 14.9oz can from Grapevine. It’s a nice looking can, like an energy drink only classy. It’s got a "pressurized insert" in there that clanks around.
The pour is a thing of beauty. It comes out of the can looking like hot cocoa, left a nice creamy head, and the show of it settling was VERY pretty.
Upon first cracking the can, noticed a yeasty aroma. Sticking my nose in the glass, i notice the chocolate, some licorice and a bit of fruity yeastyness.
Well balanced, but more mild in both regards than I had expected. Light roast, flavorful but not at all bitter hop profile. Finshes with and has aftertaste of chocolate. I’m not used to the superfine nitrogen bubbles, but I’m digging it. Seems thin at first, but also creamy. Foam is deserty.
Good beer to try, but I probably would not buy again due to its price ($2.89 for the can). rman18 (200), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA Mar 17, 2008 I had this out of a bottle poured into a pint glass. The head is nice right after pour - its about a centimeter caramal color but quickly dissipates to almost none. The same is true of the aroma. If you smell right after the pour you can catch a whiff of the chocolate but soon after it disappears. The color of the beer itself is a dark black. The flavor is obviously chocolate but not sweet at all which is refreshing. Some say coffee but I don’t taste coffee at all. The palate is very disappointing. Way too bubble and too thin I shook it a little to get rid of some of the bubbles which really helped. Almost makes it taste like a soda pop and not beer. Maybe this one is better out of the tap. Overall a good but disappointing beer. dkingsella (85), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 16, 2008 Pours black with a nice frothy mocha head that lasts for quite a while. Malty aroma with coffee and chocolate. Big chocolate taste! Nice coffee in the background. Somewhat dry finish with chocolate lingering. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Overall a very memorable stout. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 16, 2008 16.9 0z. bottle, light brown head with excellent chocolate and coffee aroma, a chocolate yoohoo on the palate, a good example of this style
