Bottle. Pitch black with a thick light tan head. Very thick pouring. Strong aroma of chocolate, burnt malt, milk. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, caramel, cream, and darkly roasted malt. Thick and creamy with a very full body. A sweet, creamy taste that is balanced very well by the burnt, roasted flavor of the malt. Finish of roasted malt and chocolate. An exquisite beer. There is chocolate in the beer, but it is not overdone and the balance is nearly perfect.

Almost pure black color. Aroma has a chocolate scent. The flavor almost seems to have two different chocolates used in it. One that is a dark chocolate and the other that is a milk chocolate. Smooth finish.

~ Purchased this bottle at Shoreline Beverage in Huntington, NY. Chocolatey, smooth, rich, and creamy are the best words to describe this classic stout. I wonder how much better this would be if the 5.2% ABV was bumped up a couple notches? Still, a real pleasure to drink, and I see myself revisiting this one again really soon! ~

Draft pint from NIcholson’s in downtown Cincinnati. Pours near black with visible carbonation and a creamy 3/4" tan head. Even, very nice lacing all the way down. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, mocha. Flavor of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Creamy, soft mouthfeel. The creaminess makes the dark chocolate seem like milk chocolate. Medium body. Semi-dry, creamy finish.

I had the bottle, want to compare it to the nitro can. Dark pour with a large brown head. The aroma was inviting- chocolate. Taste was chocolate, roasted malt, creamy goodness. Left a great taste in my mouth. Hesitant to take another sip as to enjoy the mouthfeel even longer. Glad it is available locally.

Pours very dark brown, almost but not quite black, without letting any light through, with a large foamy head that dissipates quite quickly. Smells very much like unsweetend bakers chocolate, with a hint of vanilla. Taste is very chocolaty, roasted malt and grain. Palate is however dissapointing, although it is nice and thick and creamy, it is over carbonated in my opinion, although oddly enough i could see how someone could make the argument that it works for this beer as the carbonation isn’t overly displeasing. I just think all stouts should be lightly carbonated.

Good chocolaty beer with a thick and creamy mouth-feel. Will definitely have this again.

Black syrupy body, with brown creamy head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate is very intensive. Flavour is too bitter for me. The dark chocolate dominates it as well the aftertaste. Anyway a good stout!
