In the bottle. Reddish black stout. Brown head. Requisite roasted flavor, with very strong chocholate malt and hoppiness to well-balance the whole shebang. I wish it had the ethanol to mach the big beer mouth feel.

Black in color, I couldn’t see ruby. Head is brown and disappears quickly. Scent of chocolate. Chocolate taste is immediately noticeable, and as it warmed I also tasted coffee and hops. Full bodied. Left a dry feeling in my mouth; the last few sips were noticeably bitter. Very good. As one of my very early ratings, I was very impressed with this at one point. While still a quality beer, it no longer impresses as it once did. Still looks great, but the aroma and flavor are much lighter now that I have more to compare to.

Black with a medium biege head. Much dark malt, chocolate and coconut in aroma. Smooth and malty mouthfeel. Loads of chocolate and some roasty malt. Sweet, slightly smokey and bitter finish. Nice!

Nitro Can. Pours like nitro, with great lacing on its light brown, mily, two finger width head. Black body. Deep bitter chocolate aroma. Taste is a nice a nice balance of mocha with hops and alcohol. Milky mouthfeel.

Can (Nitro). Chocolate and slightly roasted aroma for a beer with a dark black body and a thick cocoa colored head. The taste has chocolate highlights, but otherwise the nitro overpowers with the creaminess and subdues the flavor. No strong flavors and it just needs a bit more complexity. Bottle - still has a bit of a watery body - aroma has more going for it and there is more flavor. Definately the better option. Just wish the body was a little richer. rating is for canned. Bottle would come out to 3.6

Thick and creamy head, dark brown color. Dominating aroma of chocolate with malt and maybe roastyness. Great chocolate flavor with malt and roastyness. Thick, round mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.

I can't really share the enthousiasm about this one. Smells okay; burned malts, sweet. Looks are definately good; dark brown coloured; lasting, off-white head. Taste is sweet, moderate bitter with loads of caramel. Palate is uninteresting.

After a bad experience with Breckenridge’s chocolate beer I was a little apprehensive about trying this, but I am glad I did. I can’t wait to try the bottled version! This had the perfect hint of chocolate in my opinion. The coloration was also perfect and conveyed what to expect in the flavor exactly. This is a great example of bold flavor with subtle accents to make a great brew.
