Excellent beer--and since my wife loved it too, I may be allowed, even encouraged, to buy it again in the future! Although I had it at a Young’s pub, they had it refrigerated way too cold--it only really blossoms with some warmth. Excellent feel in mouth. Somewhat one-dimensional of bitter chocolate flavor, but I would make this a regular beer to drink. A real joy to drink.

Dark brown with a tan head that left lacing on the sides. Nice malty, chocolaty aroma combines with a taste of semi-sweet chocolate in a medium body, and pleasant chocolate aftertaste. I will try this again

50 cl bottle. No yeat in bottom. Very dark brown colour with a great white head. Not much but notes of chocolate. Wonderful taste of chocolate that ends in a smooth and delecious finish. A really great beer.

15 oz can, cool. Despite a loud whoosh when I opened the can this one did not have as much carbonation as I imagined. Consequently not a very large head. Also it lacked the creaminess on the top that I expected. Still this is a good tasting stout that is dark in color and very much like coffee and toast. There is a hint of chocolate to this one but not enough in my opinion. The aroma on the other hand is loaded with a chocolate smell along with toasted malt. Hops well balanced. A must try.

I certainly like this better than the draught can, but it loses a point on appearance because of its total lack of a head. The initial flavor has no chocolate at all, but the finish is dominated by tasty dark chocolate. Something about this reminds me of Fuller’s London Porter, which of course is a good thing.

(Bottle, Wargrave Arms, Marylebone, London, 2 Dec 2007) Black colour with creamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate and black coffee. Roasted, malty taste with loads of dark chocolate. Fairly sweet with good balance, hints of cocoa bitterness in the finish. Very chocolatey, nice beer.

Black in color, chocolate head is creamy and long lasting, sheets of lace cling to the glass. ’WOW’ what an aroma, chocolate, coffee, roasted grains, sweet, makes your mouth water. Lovely malt sweet start, full at the top, the finish is dry, lightly acidic, hops quite evident, light carbonation. ’Got to be one of the best stouts in the whole world’, and is in my top 5 stouts master list.
