(Bottle, Wargrave Arms, Marylebone, London, 2 Dec 2007) Black colour with creamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate and black coffee. Roasted, malty taste with loads of dark chocolate. Fairly sweet with good balance, hints of cocoa bitterness in the finish. Very chocolatey, nice beer.

Pours black with a creamy brown head. A pure sweet cocoa aroma. Very grainy and has a subtle lingering dryness. However it’s not as complex as some others in this style.

Deep black pour with a fair bit of head and no lacing. Aroma and taste were chocolately but had little compelixity, and palate was too watery, especially for a stout.

Black in color, chocolate head is creamy and long lasting, sheets of lace cling to the glass. ’WOW’ what an aroma, chocolate, coffee, roasted grains, sweet, makes your mouth water. Lovely malt sweet start, full at the top, the finish is dry, lightly acidic, hops quite evident, light carbonation. ’Got to be one of the best stouts in the whole world’, and is in my top 5 stouts master list.

Very good brew. Sub-optimal (but good) aroma and palate. Very good chocolate flavor. Dry for a stout, really a porter. Middle bittering stands out with a trailing roast/coffee aftertaste. A brew off-the-beaten-path, which is always a good thing in my book. Well done.

Bottle. Near black with a moderate tan head. Aroma of Milk chocolate, cocoa and roasted barley. Flavour was very chocolatey with a slightly burnt edge. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Ok.

Pours a beautiful frothy light brown head on a black body. The aroma is roasted with a sourish tone and notes of sweet chocolate. Flavor is hard roasted malty with lots of chocolate and some hops plus a strange tone of sour malt. Foamy mouthful. Definately good, but lacks a bit of balance.

[573-20070901] 1pt0.9floz (c/o DuctTape). Rich chocolate vanilla latte malt aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy light tan head and some lacing. Milk chocolate maltesers flavour with light spices and well-hidden alcohol. Very smooth full body. Very impressive balance of sweet and stout, plus it’s in excellent shape -- brings back memories of my first legal drink in Ontario a few years ago, which may or may not also be affecting my rating... (8/4/9/5/18) 4.4

[1994C-2009213] Bottle. Milk chocolate roasted malt aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy dark brown head. Creamy milk chocolate malt and roast flavour. Medium-full body. Tasty! (8/3/8/4/16) 3.9
