Bottle. Aroma of strong malt chocolate and roast. Sweet with a little funk, anticipated Smithian notes. Pours absolutely pitch black with a large, creamy, rocky, lacing brown head. Heavy roasted taste, chocolate, smoked barley, and those expected sour notes of stoutfunk. Light nuttiness. Bittersweet. Silky smoove. Body’s not all that full, but the aftertaste is excellent - strong dark roast. Very dry finish. Very dark and slightly earthy, unfortunately lacks the chewy body that would make this legendary. Wears a bit after two pints, but a wave of interesting, varying sensations in the mouth.

April 16th 2006 Re-rate
Widget can. Sweet chocolate malt aroma is low key, but pleasing. Deep black with a firm, lasting two finger thick creamy tan head. Fore is mildly roasty with some bitter burnt notes and sweet cocoa. Feel is quite creamy, but to my evolved palate the beer itself is pretty damn one dimensional. still tasty and something I’d order, but not the beauty I remembered.
From the bottle at Yeoman’s Road Pub. I’m starting to think I rate too easy, but this is yet another near perfect beer. I can’t think of anything disagreeable about this one.

An old favorite. Reminds me of chocolate milk. Very smooth, lacy, rich, velvety mouthfeel (and that was my impression before reading the description here!). Chocolately, lightly roasted flavor. I am ignoring the metallic flavor lent to this elixir by its colorful aluminum can. Try this, and then try the Rogue Chocolate Stout for a stronger chocolate experience. Youngs comes highly recommended by this stout fan.

[500 ml bottle] Dark black color with a thick tan head that stays for a very long time. Very strong and delicious chocolate aroma mixed with malts and some coffee perhaps. Very nice and smooth chocolate flavor with a very nice roasty backbone and finish.

Bottle. Black with brownish head. Malt, cofee and chocolate. Pretty good, but tastes a bit too artificial to me.

Out of the nitro-can. This is a very dark beer that pours with a very attractive cascading foam that leaves a thick creamy tan head. Nice nose of dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor has the expected chocolate taste, although it does taste a little artificial. Dark chocolate that evokes mint and cherries and waffer cookies. Still something artificial, almost medicinal, in here. Its the same thing I just can’t stand in the Rogue Hazelnut, but not that bad. I do like the nitro-can.
