[500 ml bottle] Dark black color with a thick tan head that stays for a very long time. Very strong and delicious chocolate aroma mixed with malts and some coffee perhaps. Very nice and smooth chocolate flavor with a very nice roasty backbone and finish.

rerate: aroma has hints of coffee, caramel, licorice, wine, and very little hint at real chocolate. Color is not as dark as i would prefer; head is minimal and tan. Palate is lacking, in my opinion. Flavors of prunes, subtle chocolate, and some okay bitterness. Compared to Brooklyn stout, this had me yearning for more. Still did the job after a bowl of chicken soup though.

Re-rating: Dry bittersweet chocolate flavors dominate here, with a mild sweetness up front and a dry finish. Clean yeast profile, light on hops. Nice beer if boring.

Large and dense light brown head. Dark brown to near black colored body with ruby highlights. Aroma of cocoa-powder and milk-chocolate. Also some pleasant scents of lightly roasted dark malts and mild coffee. Prononced chocolate flavor that never gets too far on the sweet side. Balanced with fairly dry dark malts, a gentle hopbitterness, and some tones of smoke and roast. Dry, powdery texture. Well-bodied. Mild bitterness, roast and coffee in th finish. A very nice Stout.

I wish I could get this fresh for a rating, but that’s not going to happen. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and good sized frothy tan head. The aroma has chocolate, dark berries, chalk and cream. The malt comes off more roasted than toasted. Medium body with some nice slickness and sharp carbonation. The taste starts with lightly toasted malt and sharp dark fruits. The finish is quite sour and sharp. I have had this fresh and liked it a lot, but I wasn’t writing notes at that point, so this aged one gets the rating.

Pours opaque black with a thick head as a Stout should. Chocolate aroma and flavor predominate. Chocolate is complex coming from both dark roast malt and actual chocolate. Chocolate follows till the very end.
