Great cocoa aroma, and rich dark color (but little to no head). Just slightly too bitter for some reason. RERATE 9/8: chocolate mousse finish that is very satisfying, not as bitter this time.

Not too heavy at first, a little pale ale like with mild bitterness. Chocolate grows as beer warms and also gets stronger in aftertaste. Not the most chocolatey stout I've tasted.

Picturesque pitch balck pout, ruby fringed; topped with super creamy fine tan head. Savory olive oil and bread aroma. Rich and deep. Rich, somewhat smokey chocolate malt, with wisps of fresh cocoa. Intricate and warming. Palate is a tinge watered, but ultrasmooth. Pineapple?

Draft, Exchequer Pub, Chicago Loop. A great beer to find, and even better that they have a sign in their window to promote it. Though tapped by CO2, still had a nice pub pour with a cascading head. Tan foam starts off the very creamy taste & texture, and coats rather than laces the glass. A great smooth taste with a definite but not overpowering chocolate note in the swallow. Less harsh roast notes than a Guinness, with a nice hop note, too. Nice whiskey or peat smoke notes in the finish.

Pours a creamy dark brown with a pretty thick, foamy light tan head. Smells of chocolate notes, dark malts, and cream. The taste is much the same. the chocolate is the most profound flavor, and its very noticeable in the aftertaste. Not a chocolate bomb, by any means, the body is a little watery. Otherwise it would taste like light chocolate milk. Creamy mouthfeel, and fairly long finish.

Pours a dirty black cocoa with a deep and dense tan head. Nice retention and laces up pretty well but seemed to falter towards the end. Woo! Nice aroma on this! I can smell this all night! Deep dark chocolate with cocoa, lots of cocoa. Truffle characteristics w/o sugar. Smells wonderful! Chocolate, cocoa, coffee, walnuts with a hint of vanilla and a nice hop bite.

I don’t understand the great ratings on this beer. Pour was a dark brown with a 2 finger tan head with no lacing. Aroma of faint chocolate but not much else. Taste was a flat mix (hence the nitrogen) of roasted malt and chocolate in the back. OK but not great.

Pretty pitch black pour with a thick two finger milk chocolate head almost like a nitro. Mostly roasted coffee aromas, Taste is cold cocoa mixes, sweet chocolate, slightly burnt and roasty malt bitterness. Smooth drinker.
