Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in 500ml bottles and in nitrocans. Also Nitro Keg on Tap
Production moved from Youngs to Wells & Youngs in 2007.
Ingredients: Pale ale and crystal malt, chocolate malt, special blend of sugars, Fuggle and Goldings hops, real dark chocolate and chocolate essence.
Chocolate malt and real dark chocolate are combined with Young's award winning rich, full flavoured dark beer to craft a satisfyingly indulgent, but never overly sweet experience.

500ml Bottle. Black, nice puffy brown head. Nose is sweet cocoa, caramel malt, milkiness, very dark butterscotch. Flavor is cocoa & milk, a subtle but present burnt note, some dark fruits way in the back. Mostly though this is glorious chocolate. Not overly sweet like Chokolat (obviously a completely different style, but...) A bit of hop tingle in the finish. Wonderful creamy body is especially impressive given that this is a bottle and not a nitro can.

Pours black with big off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is chocolate, then chocolate and then some chocolate. Flavor is mostly dark chocolate. No detectable hops. Watery texture. Light bodied.

I hate to say this is overrated. Huge head. Good chocolate and alcohol taste, with a little coffee. I was surprised to taste the alcohol, actually, because it is only a 5% beer. A good stout all in all, but just not quite what I look for when I drink stout. Taste could be more complex and changing.

500 ml bottle at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Flavor is the same. A bit thin, imo.

Has a deep deep brown color, with a tan head that doesn't last too long (from bottle). It's pretty weak in the aroma category, as its smell doesn't hit you very hard on first whiff. It has a pleasant dark-chocolatey taste going in, and a kind of roasted tasted after the finish. There's a hint of fruitiness along with the chocolate taste, too.
