| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Had this beer on 1/7/2003. Aroma is a sweet roasted scent. Color is solid black, no light comes though with a nice head. Taste is roasted and butterscotch. Starting with a medium body it goes down very smooth with a creamy feel. Finish is a roasted malt taste backed by a silky butterscotch like taste. Overall not the best stout I have ever had and may be a bit sweet ,but a nice brew to drink. This is a fantastic stout with silky softness on the nose and a great warming mouthfeel. The roasted and real chocolate tones are quite evident as is the undertone of noble hop. A delightful beer that I would love to drink more of, unfortunately at $10 a bottle this is only a once in a while treat. ilovedarkbeer (1365), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 15, 2007 Not really a fan. Bottle pours chocolatly brown with a foamy brown head that has many holes in it. Smells soapy and malty and has the taste of faint chocolate and roasted malt. I expected more cocoa but i guess not. Intense black color, much dense and impenetrable one. Creamy nut head, optimal persistence. Complex scent, not too much decided, with braced malt and bitter cacao notes. Soft and sweet taste, rumors of cacao and singed caramel. Round and soft end, optimal duration. Borup (1360), Albertslund, Denmark
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Bottle. Black with creamy beige head. Malt, caramel and chocolate aroma and malt and chocolate flavour. Stout is not my kind of beer, but this stout is the worst. jaymobrown (1356), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2002 Updated: Feb 14, 2003Re-Rate: Not much texture as I once thought, and the chocolate flavors aren't as pronounced. The nose isn't very strong but there are dark chocolate, coffee, and doughy flavors. Original: A subtle and smooth beer. The chocolate is present, but not overpowering. A dark, roasted flavor, robust and very tasteful. A good beer all around. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 18, 2005 Poured black, with a tight tan foamy head. More than adequate lacing I might add. Aroma of Chocolate, and coffee. Smooth, chocolate is prevalent, like everywhere. In the first taste, the mid taste the oh so sweet lingering after taste. This was smooth, silky and creamy, like a chocolate milk shake. Most excellent dry finish. If stouts are for you, get your paws on this one boys! Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2005 500ml bottle. Pours deep black with just a bit of red glow around the edges when held up to the light. Nice layer of creamy tan head. Aromas of perked coffee, butter, mild cocoa and sweet cream. Palate is smooth, but a bit on the thin side. Roast and coffee flavors with some burnt toast. A little sour. Chocolate is very subtle up front, but has a growing presense. Some chalky bitterness in the finish. A pleasant but unexceptional stout. What is there is quite good--but there isn’t enough of it to be that interesting.
