Perhaps it’s just the style phase I’m in right now, but in my personal ratings of 150 beers there are only two that get a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. This is one of them. I’ve also introduced it to many friends that share my opinion. Also, I tried a blind comparison between the bottle and the nitro can. The bottle was clearly better.

This is truly delicious. Creamy in glass, and very nice color. Great flavor, clean aftertaste - not bitter or burnt - I especially enjoyed the dryness. Just truly tasty. I will be purchasing this again very soon.

The dessert Guinness if you will. All the great qualities of Guinness with a chocolate flavor. If you like Guinness give this a try, if you don’t I would suggest it.

Bottle. Pours a deep, dark espresso color, with a smooth creamy head. The aroma is full of coffee and burnt chocolate. It transends into the flavor making for a slightly bitter, rich, full, chocolatey character with a smooth malty finish. Simply marvelous. Aroma 8 Appearance 5 Flavor 9 Palate 4 Overall 18 Total 4.4 Can. For the first time in my life I can honestly Say that I enjoyed a canned version better than bottled. Much creamier and a bit sweeter I think. The actual ratings reflect the nitro can.

When I first tried this beer, I was in shock. I expected a sickly sweet stout like Mackesons XXX, but to my surprise it was a bit bitter, like a good piece of dark chocolate. I LOVED this brew, and would always have some in my fridge, but sadly, I am a vegan and I understand they use lactose in it’s formulation, so I will refrain. For the general stout lover, this is a unique taste not to pass up. Definately a desert stout, as if that’s a big surprise. I agree with Canary Dog, if you want to turn someone onto stouts (particularly women), use this as your ice-breaker. Incredibly velvety and hardly any aftertaste.

(Bottle) I have a new favorite beer. I was very hesitant at first about getting a stout with "chocolate" in it, for fear of it tasting like "burned chocolate". This is a very dark beer with a nice sizeable head. Lingering lace, and will re-head when swirled. I don?t smell any "chocolate" aroma in the beer, but I do smell a nose full of dark roasts. - like a good bold coffee. Unbelievably drinkable, right down to room temperature.... In fact, the flavors pick up the warmer the beer gets. It?s a very bold taste, and not one that you could drink 3 or 4 of per night... but a very good "reward" beer.
