A slight coffee smell too, but mostly dominated by the chocolate. Appearance is very dark almost black. Nice tan creamy head that dies after a minute or so. Chocolate malt flavor is great. There’s a cream and coffee flavor too but it’s the chocolate that mostly stands out. Aftertaste is relatively short and suprise, it’s also chocolate. Great mouthfeel. I’ve never been a fan of dark beers, but this is incredible. Then again this is not your average dark beer. I know it’s early in my ratings, but I never thought a dark beer would ever top my list. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain

Taste some alcohol, but dominated by chocolate and malts. Creamy on the palate, roasty and smooth,. Quite dry with a slightly bitter finish. Probably the best stout I have ever tasted. oh6gdx (9047), Vasa, Finland

The slightly bitter, slightly chocolate aftertaste lingers ever so slightly, leaving you wanting more. It’s smooth and creamy with a long lasting head, but kind of heavy. I’d not recommend more than one at a sitting. bigrond (1054), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

This pretty much decribes this beer. The color is so black, the light almost can not escape, poured with a froathy tan head that lasts throughout the drink with chocolate aroma and taste. 3.19 petty keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 1, 2007 The label read Young’s Luxury Double Chocolate Stout....emphasis on the word "luxury" with this very fine example of a stout. Aroma of rich dark chocolate. Pours gorgeous deep brown/black with small tan head. Flavor of bitter chocolate and roasted malts, improving greatly as the beer’s temperature rose to near room temperature. This stout is rich, decadent, and yes, luxurious. One of the finest stouts I’ve ever had, would go very well with a chocolate dessert or perhaps a cheesecake. Amazing stout.
