Bottle. Sweet, strong chocolate / mocha aroma. Pours a deep dark brown with a copper hue and a small amount of tan head. Nice legs, but I’d like to see more head. The initial flavor is of coffee and dark chocolate. Further sips reveal a sweeter, milkier chocolate taste. The hops, which could easily be lost in this style, are surprisingly evident and pleasant. This is a very rich, yet satisfyingly subtle, beer. The chocolate taste is unmistakable but not overpowering, allowing this stout to stand up well to multiple tastings. This is by no means just some novelty flavored beer. The brew is medium bodied and silky smooth but still very crisp. There is a minor, enjoyable dark chocolate aftertaste. This is a delicious beverage, truly a pleasure to drink, and I highly recommend it. I have also tried the canned version, and, without rating it formally, I would guess that it would lose about 2 to 3 points between the palate and the overall score, for a 4.0 or 4.1. The bottles are worth the small price premium if you can find them, but if the cans are all you can find, by all means, buy them and savor this masterpiece.

All around great beer, dark chocolate taste lingers on the roof of the mouth. Easy to drink, very smooth. Nice tan head. Rich and full flavored. Great addition to chocolate cake.

chocolate, black, heavy cloying sweetness, full body, creamy, lively, long finish; best beer I’ve come across so far.

Very dark with a lovely thick head. Chocolate attacks the nose a bit along with some coffee. Not sickly at all and a pleasant long finish. I’ve had this on tap at the old brewery and many a bottle but I have noticed a recent drop in the consistency of bottles.

Maybe the best palate of any beer I’ve ever tasted, just creamy chocolate with a hint of coffee and malt behind it. Tastes like a candy bar or maybe hershey syrup. I bet this beer would be outstanding over vanilla ice cream and think I should probably try that soon.

Um soooo good, no joke. On tap at the Beer Engine. The smell alone is ridiculous -- like super smooth sweet dark chocolate blended with sweetened condensed milk. The flavor is surprisingly much much lighter than the aroma would suggest. Smooth, delicious, happiness in a glass.
