Ingredients: Pale ale and crystal malt, chocolate malt, special blend of sugars, Fuggle and Goldings hops, real dark chocolate and chocolate essence.

Bottle: One of my favorites. Even better on draft and nitrogen. Very dark with medium head. Not much nose, faint roasty chocolate, but the taste ... love it. Also has a very nice mouthfeel. Full and creamy. Excellent!

Rich, almost burnt, chocolate aroma. The color is black with a beige head that lasts for a while. The flavor is a rich, semi-sweet chocolate. The texture is a little chaukier than I would have expected, and it’s somewhat thinner feeling as well. I have to say, I really enjoyed this beer.

This beer is black. It smells of roasted malt and chocolate. The taste is extremely smooth with the chocololate mingling with the malts. The hops are really difficult to notice in taste, but overall add a good balance. This is very simalar to brooklyn brewery’s chocolate stout. Excellent

Pours very dark brown with creamy brown head. Nose is coffee, sweet and CHOCOLATE. Very nice flavor of yes chocolate, maltyness and truffles. Excellent dessert beer. Finishes with fine bittersweetness.

Pours a very opaque black, with brown sugar-coloured head. The head is quite substantial, lasting for nearly the whole glass and leaving lots of lace. The aroma is roasted malt, molasses, hot milk chocolate powder. The mouthfeel is fairly smooth and thick, but a bit dry and chalky as well. The taste is unsweetened chocolate bitterness at the back (funny enough, a bit like eating a mouthfeel of cocoa powder), with a slight kick of fancy molasses. I find it somewhat astringent. The aftertaste is pretty well the same as the aftertaste from eating darker milk chocolate. Let me stress that this is more milk chocolate than dark chocolate despite the bitterness. I find this stout well-rounded and robust. I’d have this again without argument. One of the best I’ve had, and the best to come out of England (which wasn’t all that tough, really, considering my vast disappointment after my trip through Kent).

One of the better beers I’ve ever consumed. I like it almost as much as Young’s Oatmeal Stout. UPDATE: Quality control seems to be an issue, as I’ve had some great ones and some weaker, acidic ones.

Bottle, black in color with thick creamy light brown head, can definitely smell the chocolate malt, the taste of chocolate is even better, great balance, nice body, slight chocolate bitterness but just enough to make you want another sip.

Deep and dark with a tan, creamy head. Chocolate and coffee overtones with a slight bitter aftertaste. Great with vanilla ice cream.
