It is almost as if a dark choclate bar and a fine sweet stout mated, and then out of that union birthed forth this brew. I have really enjoyed tasting this fine brew over and over again. Great with a chocolate desert and/or a night-cap before bed just relaxing. Appearance: pours the typical dark mahogany nitro stout color with a brown creamy head one-half a finger thick that is retained. Moderate-to-thick lacing left on the pint glass throughout.
Smell: the smell of chocolate shines through here with a slight hint of coffee.
Taste/Mouthfeel: a perfect balance of roasted and chocolate malts and Fuggle and Goldings hops with the added taste of dark chocolate. The sweet taste of chocolate (but not overly sweet) with a creamy milkiness at the front of the tongue is followed by the roasted malt flavor (slightly bitter) at the rear of the mouth. Unbelievably smooth and creamy with light carbonation and a full body.
Drinkability: this is definitely the best milk/cream stout that I’ve ever tasted!!! I would go out of my way for this one! The balanced flavor and silky creaminess makes it a great session beer. However, the full body and price may limit how many pints one can have. Overall, this a great stout to drink all-year round but especially during the chilly winter months! Give this one to those that do not enjoy stouts or darker beers and they may quickly give in to the Dark Side! It’s that good!!!
Side note: I have not tried this beer in a bottle or nitro can yet. I have read that it is better on tap or from the can due to the nitro charge.

Smooth mouthfeel. For some reason, tastes completely different (better) from the bottle than from the can. Avoid the can if possible. shortamdstout (3), Alabama, USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jul 20, 2009 had on tap at gingerman fort worth, jet black great taste of dark chocolate real enjoyable. dcattorney (13), USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 13, 2006 A great specialty beer. Much heavier than Guinness or other commercial stouts. The aroma and taste is as described: a perfect mix of chocolate and stout.
It is difficult to drink more than one of these, due to the strong finish and heartiness of this brew. Worth the purchase. TechMyst (166), Fox River Grove, Illinois, USA
