440 mL can: I just had one of these the other day. All i can say is "Wow!" I gave one to my buddy who again said, "Wow!" (he phoned me twice in 10 minutes to rave about it). We’ve all had a "chocolate stout" that didn’t live up to expectations: well, this does. Aroma is there, but aftertaste is even better. Do yourself a favour, drink a pint & expand your horizons of what beer can be.

A great specialty beer. Much heavier than Guinness or other commercial stouts. The aroma and taste is as described: a perfect mix of chocolate and stout. It is difficult to drink more than one of these, due to the strong finish and heartiness of this brew. Worth the purchase.

500ml bottle. 2 months before expiration. Very rich. Good blend of sweet and bitter. Clean finish. Heavy mouthfeel.

16.9 oz bottle. Massive Massive tan head.Beer is almost black in color with a bit of brown tint. Very nice aroma of plums, licorice, vanilla and mocha. Taste is nice but a lot more one dimensional that I was expecting after the complex aroma. Taste is mostly of a very sweet fruity chocolate.Very carbonated. Mouthfeel is very thin for a stout. Nice bittersweet aftertaste that is fleeting and makes you want another drink right away, which is fine with the low 5.2 abv. This would make a nice light session beer and reminds me a lot of the Rogue Hazlenut Porter that I just reviewed last night. Sweet, thin and fizzy (cola-ish). Finish lingers a bit and has a hit of sourness to it. I guess for the style it is spot-on, but would be better if it were thicker with more body. 7/17/09 rerate-orig rating was 9/4/8/3/13=3.7. New rating is from a nitro can. Nothing new to add except it is more of a bitter choc than i remember and i like it in the nitro can much better than the bottle. And it is chocolate brewed perfection...

(From a can with a widget) This stout has long been a favorite. Too bad I can’t find it in the bottle anymore. It is a black beer with the creamiest khaki head you ever saw. Wow! maybe there’s something to this little widget! The aroma is of faint roast. It’s a bit muffled from the dense head. This beer always serves as my personal high mark for how good the palate of a beer can be. It’s the smoothest thing ever. It’s like drinking a melted chocolate bar. The flavor is of creamy milk chocolate and malt. Like a Frosty from Wendy’s, but 1000 times better. An stout for all time! Long live it!

Even from a bottle, this is a GREAT beer! Poured dark and beautiful with a defined chocolate smell and delicate caramel colored head. Your first taste is a heavenly blend of silky smooth chocolate and coffee. It is a sweet and milky taste that reminds you of dessert! Pour me another!

Delicious! I am a fan of dark tasty beers and love to try new ones all the time. I saw this in my local packy (Beverage Warehouse, VT) and just wanted to give it a shot! It is wonderful. Extra dark and tasty. I held it up to the light in a glass and could not see through it! I only got 1 bottle but I will be going back for more! Cheers -Kevin
