| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 23, 2008 Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is slightly weak but smells faintly of oats and malt. Aroma does not do the beer justice. The flavor is rich and malty with a beautiful balance of oatmael like flavor. Goes down so smooth. This stout is even better when you try it on tap. moseslikesbeer (183), conestoga, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2008 aroma of chocolate, malt and roasted nuts but all faint. huge chocolate head and very dark body. very good lacing. tastes like chocolate and malt and nuts. not really getting an oatmeal flavor at all. the palate is very smooth on this one. a little bitter and a little dry and flat. surprised that the after taste is of roasted chocolate. a very good "stout" just not sure if it’s worthy of the oatmeal title. dkingsella (92), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Pours very dark with large, fluffy, mocha head. I was a bit disappointed in this one as it didn’t stand up to the double chocolate stout I remember trying a year and a half ago. I can taste the oatmeal along with chocolate, coffee and cheese...not terribly complex by any means. Thin mouthfeel and void of any finish. Just okay. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Chocolately malt aroma, big tan head, very dark brown color, really looks great in the glass. The flavor is a little less impressive, with tastes of toasted oats, malt, and a little coffee-like. Went good with the beef stew I ate it with. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Nov. 2006 - Dark, dark pour with huge pillowy head and very nice lacing left all over my mug. The smell was roasted malts and sweet oatmeal. The flavor in this one was both bitter and dry, yet really sweet and the most oatmeal I’ve ever tasted in an oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel was a bit too overcarbonated and not as smooth as I was hoping...yet this remains a very good brew. Swalden28 (1531), McKinney, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 12, 2008 I expected better. Poured a deep ruby-black color, dark tan head with pretty good retention that laces glass. Aroma of dark malt and fruity notes but not as heavy as I would have thought. Flavor is very nice but kinda basic. Dark roast taste that isn’t very strong from what I was hoping for and mouth feel is smooth, but not what I would call creamy, but somewhat watery for style. Carbonation is a little heavier then what I would have thought. It is a good beer by all means, but it has so much potential that wasn’t hit in my opinion. maniac4016 (114), bill clinton, Iceland
