| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Appearance: Pours a black body with a full, foamy light tan head.
Smell: Faint aroma of chocolate and licorice with a very unappealing sour quality to it.
Taste: Dark chocolate flavor with a hint of root beer and a shot of water. The finish is thinning and watery.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not nearly as full-bodied, complex, or flavorful as other oatmeal stouts. TheJester (724), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2007 Pint bottle. Deep walnut brown, almost opaque, with thick (but receding), sticky brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke and expresso. Flavour is a little sweeter than expected, and the flavours don’t come through as well as they do in the aroma. Medium bodied. Creamy. Carbonation is about right. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 28, 2007 Very watery stout. Thin palate, nice pour, and nice roasted nose. Very underwhelming stout. Sam Smith’s is much better. kringlan (20), Falun, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 24, 2007 Distinct chocolate aroma, sweet and fruity, maybe slightly sourish... Virtually black in color with a light brown, quickly disappearing head. Average lacing. Light, silky, smooth palate. Nicely carbonated. Quite bland in taste; which I find is something it’s got going for it. There are slight hints of coffee, chocolate, soy, caramel, prune and figs. I like it for it’s lightness in combination with its mellow array of flavors. glennmastrange (868), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 23, 2007 Bottle. Retired? This beer definetely needs to warm to release it’s benign aromas. When refridgerator cold it’s got a noticeable metalic scent, but after it warms roasted and nutty are upfront for the malts, herbs for the hops and a light dough note for the yeast with a nice oakiness in the background. The head is average sized, rocky, light brown with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is jet black. Pretty bland flavors start off with lightly sweet and acidic, then a short finish with lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light/medium, between dry and watery and the carbonation is pretty lively for a stout. Not a horrible beer, but the lack of bold tastes keeps this off my re-do list. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Nose is heavy roast, almost burnt malt, coffee, and toffee. Tastes roasty with bittersweet cocoa and the typical oatmeal stout sweetness. Good solid stout.
