A beautifully hand crafted beer with an exceptionally smooth palette and a fruity aroma. A dark, ruby-coloured stout, almost black from a distance, with a beautiful creamy head. Fuggles and Goldings hops. 20% Slovenian Goldings added 10 minutes befofe end of boil.

Despite the notice here that Young’s is out of business, their beer seems to be very much alive at my local Binny’s. At least their Oatmeal and double chocolate stoute are. The Oatmeal is a very dark pouring beer with a big tan head. Not quite as “chewy” as I would like but still quite nice, Sweet and a bit malty

Bottle: Poured a thick black brown with a chalky light brown/beige head. The aroma was a sweet caramel or roasted malt. The taste was similiar with a sweet roasted malt left that unmistakeable english dry thick flavor.

Bottle: Huge tanned head, slowly collapsing, dark amber coloured; fruity, a bit vinous nose with a grainy touch; medium to full bodied, distinctive bitter-sweet flavour; lingering, a bit drier, roast-malty finish with a warming, brandy-like aftertaste. A pleasant, well rounded Stout...........

500 mL bottle, bbe 31/03/08. Completely opaque black with a huge head that lasts and leaves sticky meringue. Mild aromas of molasses and peppery spice. Flavors of molasses, metallic-herb spice, graham cracker, mild coffee and a hint of marshmallow. Smooth and slightly dry, with a medium body.

Pours dark with a light brown head that is tightly packed. A nice smooth body to it that carries deep coffee-like flavors and a toasty finish.

Pours a dark coffee black and has nice notes of a sweet fruit forward aroma. The sweet malt shows thourhg on the palate and gives a nice creamy finish.
