| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Pours a dark brown with medium caramel head. Aroma does have a slight earthy/fruity appeal as described by the brewer. Taste represents a full body, starts with smooth malt, and finishes dry, but not bitter. No aftertaste of note. This beer is easy to drink and I’d describe it as a better Guiness. ekstedt (2446), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown, almost black, opaque, with an enormous dark beige head. Malty, roasted character with coffee and dark bread, a hint of gunpowder. Medium to heavy bodied with little carbonation. Dry finish without much bitterness. Well made! 1FastSTi (2575), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2007 Bottle. Best by 3/21/07. The beer pours to a dark cola colored body that appears black when in quantity. A nice fluffy dark tan/brown colored head sits on top while beautiful lacing sticks to the glass. The aroma is licorice like with roasty malts. At times, I detect some oatmeal and some herbs. The flavor is laden with black licorice, roasty black patent malts, walnuts, and some oatmeal. Strangely, it has some similarities to the herbal spicinesses of some of the Traquair beers. The palate is moderately full bodied but too slick. Needs to be creamier. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Aroma is rich chocolate with notes of oats, roast, caramel, hint of hops. Flavor brings this, quite smooth to drink. Medium bodied, slightly sweet finish. I think I liked this one so much because it wasn’t more of the same. Perhaps because the bottle expired? mcbackus (751), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2007 Poured a fairly black brew with a medium, slightly creamy/frothy, tan head. The aroma was slightly sweet, some caramel, and some citrusy hop. Not very complex. There was definite roast in the flavor, chocolate, mild coffee, it was a tad thin or simple. The palate was smooth with a slight roast and the finish left a burnt taste in your throat. Not a bad oatmeal stout, just didn’t knock my socks off. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2007 The color was a nice dark black. The head was light beige. The aroma was roast, not very complex, and malt. The flavor had a lot more depth thatn the aroma suggested. The flavors were roast, bitter, waxy, and malt. The palate was smooth and the finish could have lasted longer. faroeviking (6118), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Well lagered bottle. Deep dark brown almost black colour with a nice medium light brown mostly diminishing head. Aroma of well roasted malts, chocolate, raisins and coffee. Flavour is smooth and creamy, nice roasty maltiness, dark chocolate, some coffee, raisins and with some bitter hops. Tasty stout but there are better ones from youngs.....or were....
